Junior Accountant
The Falls Church Anglican is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join our operations team. The ideal candidate will support the Director of Operations and Finance Team in a range of accounting, financial and administrative tasks. Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable and Receivables:
• Assist accounts payable and receivable team leads with invoices, expense reports, check requests.
• Assist with accounts receivable and payable ledgers.
General Ledger:
• Assist in maintaining and updating the general ledger.
• Prepare journal entries and perform month-end and year-end closing entries.
• Assist with account reconciliations and bank reconciliations.
Financial Reporting:
• Assist with internal and external audits.
• Help ensure compliance with policies, procedures and regulations.
• Maintain accurate and organized financial records and documentation.
• Support in preparation of budgets and forecasts.
Compliance and Audit:
• Assist with internal and external audits.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and regulations.
• Maintain accurate and organized financial records and support documentation.
Data Entry and Administration:
• Perform data entry for various accounting functions.
• Maintain and update accounting databases, spreadsheet and systems.
• Support the finance team with administrative tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
Education
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field (preferred).
• In place of Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, two years of paid work experience plus 24 hours in core accounting courses (basic accounting, financial accounting, intermediate, managerial, cost, tax, auditing, and finance).
• 0-2 years of experience in accounting or finance.
Experience
• 0-2 years of accounting experience.
• Internship experience in accounting or finance is advantageous.
Skills
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong analytical and problem solving.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Sensitivity to privacy and ability to keep confidentiality.
