Jr Laboratory Assistant
White Springs, FL 32096 ( Onsite, must be local)
Pay: $18-$20hr ( Weekly pay)
3-6 month contract ( Excellent potential for extension)
Hours: M-Thursday 7am-3:30pm (First two weeks for training: M-F 7am-3:30pm)
On the job training Provided Interest working in a lab setting, doing instrumentations and other lab duties
Responsibilities
- Perform all assigned analyses following a routine / non-routine sample schedule and enters results into the Laboratory LIMS system including using a variety of instrumentation and methods
- Analysis of non-routine samples from customers, R&D, special projects, including pilot plant studies, and making changes and documenting new analytical methods for sample analyses
- Perform maintenance/preventative maintenance on various instrumentation including calibrating, troubleshooting, and changing out reagents
- Monitor quality assurance in the lab and reanalyzes questionable assays
- Perform statistical quality control charting
- Follow safety and environmental procedures
- Report all control analyses when LIMS is down
- Identify off-grade or abnormal shipments and control analyses and reports to the lab supervisor
- Produce analytical results for process and shipment samples to assist in quality control / quality assurance of company products and entering results into the LIMS database
- Maintain Laboratory equipment by organizing daily work activities to prevent equipment failures that may cause delays in delivering assays needed to maintain maximum production of production systems during an 12-hour shift
- Ability to perform physically demanding work such as moving and lifting equipment, standing for long periods of time, etc.
- Ability to learn the details in all aspects of Standard operating Procedures, safety, environmental procedures, and regulations
- Maintain compliance with the food/feed management system at all times
- Ability to complete assigned curriculum and on the job-training encompassing the laboratory processing area and company compliance standards
Requirements
- BA/BS degree in Life Science or (Chemistry, Biology) biological sciences, life sciences, OR work experience
- 1 yr experience working in a lab setting or intested in getting trained. OR recent college grads with educational background working in a lab setting
- Experience troubleshooting skills, in either instrumentations, lab equipment or personal experience; either personally, education or work experience with troubleshooting.
- Comfortable with some laborious work; Ability to perform physically demanding work such as moving and lifting equipment, standing for long periods of time, etc.
- Experience or able to learn to be trained on how to use a variety of instrumentation
- Must have excellent communication skills; able to explain issues/troubleshooting to team members and supervisor
- Requires being teachable, coachable and can absorb information quickly, get along well with others
- Must be good with numbers and calculations
- Ability to learn the details in all aspects of Standard operating Procedures (SOP), safety, environmental procedures, and regulations
- Able to learn LMS systems and good with technology
- Requires to complete assigned curriculum and on the job-training encompassing the laboratory
- processing area and company compliance standards
- Requires interest working in a lab setting
