Schedule: 5 days / week onsite at the Naval base in Norfolk, VA.
Position Description
The Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) builds and maintains sustainable facilities, delivers utilities, and services, and provides Navy expeditionary combat force capabilities. NAVFAC requires facilities under its command and the facility related controls systems (FRCS) in them to be interconnected to properly provide Technical Management, Continuous Monitoring, and an End-to-End (E2E) Cyber Defense capabilities to NAVFAC's Facilities Engineering Commands. The Control Systems Platform Enclave version 3 (CSPEv3) has been identified as the networking platform these systems will connect to and requires location specific integration for each of the designated control systems that will be connected. We are seeking a skilled Systems Engineer to join our Network Operations Center (NOC) team. An ideal candidate for this position will have experience with system administration, Windows, and Linux operating systems (OS), Server services, and filesystem structures. Knowledge of VMware virtualization technologies, including VMware Cloud Foundation, vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, vSAN, NSX, and vRealize Suite, and VMware Aria. This role requires a Familiarity with security frameworks and industry standards like NIST SP 800-82 Rev. A, ISO/IEC 27001, CIS Controls, DoD 8500.01, etc. The Systems engineer should also be familiar with cybersecurity tools such as SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) systems, and vulnerability scanners i.e. Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS).
The primary job of the CSPEv3 support team is to integrate key locations into the CSPEv3 infrastructure by standing up all technologies, both software and hardware, to integrate FRCS systems into this network topology with an end goal of enhancing the cyber security posture and enable continuous monitoring of critical systems. • Proficiency with technologies such as Various operating systems - Windows (Server 2019, 2022, Windows 10, and Windows 11), and Red Hat Linux (RHEL) Active Directory Management, User Management, Group Policies Multi-domain integration VMware Virtualization Technologies VMware Cloud Foundation, vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, vSAN, NSX, and vRealize Suite, and VMware Aria Trellix Endpoint Security Solutions, Configuration and Management
• Ability to identify and assess risks in the IT environment and implement risk mitigation strategies.
• Understands and can implement security hardening Compliance Tools, Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS), Tenable.SC
• Windows registry keys, Windows and Linux file system artifacts, Active directory logs for users and account permissions
• IAM principles, Role-based access control, multi-factor authentication, and privileged access management.
• Scripts, such as web shells found on endpoints, PowerShell, PHP, Python, Bash, JavaScript
• Analytical skillset Clear technical documentation creation Good Communication skills with the ability to discuss and troubleshoot high level issues with multiple governing entities Minimum Qualifications
Must have 3 years of relevant, Systems administration/Engineering experience in performing system issue analysis, risk management, system troubleshooting, and system documentation.
• Education/Experience Minimum of 3 years of experience in Systems administration OR equivalent combination of education, training, & experience
• Preferred Certifications VMware VCP - Data Center Virtualization VMware VCP-NV Network Virtualization
