Position OverviewProfessor Chris Etheridge is looking for a highly-motivated graduate student interested in assisting on research and curriculum development in the use of data in journalism and mass communication storytelling. The student is expected to assist with collecting and summarizing the latest research, propose and design learning interventions, and manipulate research data. Specific responsibilities will depend upon the interests and relevant experience of the student.Job Description

Required Qualifications
  1. Ability to identify and summarize academic articles or books on theories and methods of mass communication research as evidenced in application materials.
  2. Ability to analyze survey data as evidenced in application materials.
  3. Ability to write for both academic and college undergraduate levels as evidenced in application materials.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Effective oral and written communication skills as evidenced in application materials.
  2. Ability to design course assignments connected to specific course learning objectives as evidenced in application materials.
  3. Ability to write scripts for audio and video as evidenced in application materials.
  4. Ability to record/edit video as evidenced in application materials.
Position RequirementsDuring the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).Employment Conditions(1) Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.

(2) This is an hourly/non-exempt position.
