Java Engineer

Opening / Selling Statement - Our client is seeking a Sr Level Java engineer for engineering and delivery of microservices and API's to support Retail & Customer Data. The team supports various mid-layer services across the organization and to external partners and is seeking a strong Java Engineer with cloud experience. Best qualified candidates will have strong experiences in Java 8+, AWS Cloud, Containerization, Data Streaming, Automated Testing, and Agile/Scrum.

Job Duties -
• Be an active participant in all scrum ceremonies and lead in the delivery of the strategic roadmap.

• Help define project scope & specifications, and estimate resources required to develop the proposed solution.

• Ensure that specifications and requirements are clearly articulated to the development teams and monitor timelines & progress.

• Propose technical solutions.

• Delivery of well-designed, high-quality, fully functional, properly tested features, fixes, and enhancements.

• Responsible for the full application development lifecycle and support.

• Define and document best practices and strategies regarding application deployment and infrastructure maintenance.

• Support continuous improvement by investigating alternatives and new technologies and presenting these for architectural review.

• Troubleshooting and debugging to optimize performance.

• Provide subject matter expertise and direction, guidance, and support on complex engagements.

Job Requirements -
• 9+ years of engineering

• 6+ years experience with Java8 or above

• 4+ years experience with Springboot

• 3+ years experience with Containers (Docker and orchestration, ie: Kubernetes or EKS or Redhat)

• 3+ years experience with AWS Cloud

• 3+ years years with automated testing frameworks (jbehave, cucumber, selenium, junit)

• Strong understanding of HTTP/REST and OpenAPI docs

• 3+ years years with automated testing frameworks (jbehave, cucumber, selenium, junit)

• 3+ years years of data streaming (Kafka, Kinesis, NATS, Messaging, etc)

• 2+ years architecture & design

• 2+ years monitoring (Splunk, Datadog, New Relic, EKS, etc)

• Experienced with Agile/Scrum methodologies (backlog refinement, standups, retrospective)"
