Summary of Job Duties
Northshore Utility District in Kenmore, Washington is seeking an IT Technician.

Work Schedule: Non-exempt, Full-Time, Monday - Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. OR Optional 9/80 Schedule, Monday - Thursday 7:00a.m., to 4:30p.m., Friday 7:00a.m., to 3:30p.m., with every other Friday off.

This position is responsible for delivering technical support and managing devices for end users. The incumbent will configure, troubleshoot, and repair PCs, install software, and address software and hardware related issues. Additionally, the role involves maintaining VPN and Microsoft authentication systems, including configuring 2-factor tokens, and documenting network device port configurations.

REPORTING DIRECTLY TO: Information Technology Manager

Examples of Duties
  • Provides first tier technical support to end users of the District's computer network and information system.
  • Processes the purchase of IT equipment as needed with IT Manager approval.
  • Entry of receipts for purchases into finance software.
  • Assists in overall IT network and computer systems maintenance.
  • Orient new employees to IT Systems including phones, desktops, laptops, and applications.
  • Troubleshoots, maintains, and repairs IT related equipment.
  • Creates patching strategy for desktops, laptops, and mobile devices. Automates deployment of patches.
  • Routinely reviews and responds to security incidents from Endpoint Detection and Response software and other security solutions.
  • Installing various software and operating systems.
  • Creates and assigns phone numbers and extensions to employees.
  • Creates, updates, and reviews documentation for all duties as assigned.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Experience/Education: Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the job. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be three (3) years' experience in PC maintenance, repair, installation, and deployment; and/or two-year degree in information technology and/or possess a technical certification of Microsoft Certified Professional, CompTIA or certification; and a High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
Licensing Requirements:
  • Valid Washington State Driver's License.

Other Requirements: Reliable and regular attendance, and the ability to work harmoniously with other employees.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Most work is performed in a typical office environment, including server rooms, and occasionally outdoors. Nights and odd hours in response to emergencies and driving to different sites may be required. This position typically requires fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Sitting at a desk and working on equipment for long periods, crawling under desks, reaching into tight spaces during hardware installation and repairs. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally to move objects. Often works with sensitive or proprietary data and expected to follow strict data privacy, network security and compliance protocols.
