Job Responsibilities
Work independently with faculty and staff on the College's central campus to evaluate and resolve their software and/or hardware problems. Setup, maintain, troubleshoot, support, modify all personal computer software, hardware and peripherals including but not limited to desktop, laptop, and tablet PCs, network printers, telephones, etc. as well as provide instruction and consultation. Work to enhance IT products and services. Build and maintain positive client relationships, this position is usually the first IT employee a client sees when a problem occurs.
- Meet with clients to discuss problems and troubleshoots computer hardware, software, and peripheral devices, including but not limited to desktop, laptop, and tablet PCs, network printers, telephones, etc. Orders parts if necessary. Handles warranty replacements. Informs client of what was done to fix the problem.
- Installs new equipment and wiring, including installation, connection, testing, removal and disposal of old equipment, and instructing users in the basic usage of the equipment and any preventive maintenance necessary.
- Participates in departmental projects such as new lab setups, wiring projects, inventory, software and hardware upgrades. Performs preventive maintenance tasks on labs and offices as assigned, including software updates/upgrades and re-imaging of labs as requested. Weekend and evening hours are sometimes required.
- Administrates, maintains, and troubleshoots the College's printing solution, to include all printing-related hardware and software. Ensures all printers are on the network, active, and able to be used. Suggests and submits order requests for replacement of printing peripherals and devices. Manages any server related tasks for printing.
- Be on call no more than one weekend per month for campus computer problems plus for any special events or projects as scheduled.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
High school diploma and experience in information technology, electronics technology systems, or other related areas. Associate degree's or bachelor's degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or associate's degree in related area and a minimum of two years of related work experience.
