Description:
The IT Systems & Infrastructure Engineer maintains and operates systems, storage or network infrastructure. This position is authorized to make changes to network systems based on monitoring usage, capacity and performance to improve efficiency or address issues. Performs related work.
Essential Functions:
- Provides troubleshooting and maintenance of data servers, user devices, web and media, and communication tools;
- Maintains the network and server maintenance involving the use of Hyper-V to install and maintain our Microsoft network and replication;
- Installs and maintains switches, access points and firewalls, which will include configuring VLANS and creating rules for QOS;
- Focuses on hardware and software aspects of network operations across a LAN/WAN configuration;
- Analyzes a chain of events and applies technical knowledge following established procedures and/or detailed specifications;
- Monitors use, capacity and performance of network systems, and makes recommendations for changes;
- Ensures the installation and implementation of new equipment and software as required;
- Performs backups and testing them;
- Maintains the current phone and voicemail system;
- Creates windows workstation base images for deployment;
- Repairs desktop computers when issues arise;
- May mentor junior staff and assist in troubleshooting;
- Undertakes technical leadership and coordination on projects and/or systems maintenance activities;
Education and Experience:
- Minimum two years of experience;
- Good knowledge of current information technology trends and capabilities;
- Experience installing, maintaining, troubleshooting network, server or storage systems;
- Experience resolving network or server problems;
- Experience working with end users to develop and implement information technology solutions for user computing needs in a business environment;
- Experience administering and supporting IT systems (e.g., server operating systems including Microsoft Windows Servers and/or Linux Servers; Active Directory; scripting languages; Server Applications; Storage; etc.)
