We are hiring an accomplished IT System Analyst to work on a critical project within the national security sector. The key goals and objectives of this project are to modernize report automation processes and establish a comprehensive, efficient, and secure data management framework for the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) Office of Homeland Security Statistics (OHSS). ? This initiative aims to enhance the quality, timeliness, and accessibility of statistical data, improve inter-agency collaboration, and support data-driven decision-making through automation, modernization, and process optimization. ? The desired outcomes include streamlined workflows, improved data integrity and security, expanded capabilities for data sharing, and the delivery of actionable insights to policymakers, Congress, and the public, ultimately enabling OHSS to achieve its mission of providing high-quality statistical information efficiently and effectively. The IT System Analyst will play a pivotal role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) Office of Homeland Security Statistics (OHSS) by analyzing, designing, and implementing technology solutions to modernize report automation processes and enhance database administration. The Analyst will work closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, develop system specifications, and ensure the successful execution of IT projects and initiatives. Key Responsibilities: System Analysis and Design o Analyze existing systems and workflows to identify areas for improvement. o Gather and document system requirements from stakeholders. o Create detailed system specifications and perform impact analyses. Report Automation Support o Assist in modernizing OHSS's report production line. o Research industry best practices and recommend automation strategies. o Support ongoing and ad-hoc report requirements based on management priorities. Technical Development o Develop and maintain web interfaces using modern frameworks (e.g., React, Angular). o Implement programming solutions using Python and Java. o Design and optimize PostgreSQL databases, including database modeling, SQL querying, performance tuning, and data migration. Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) o Develop and document technical SOPs based on federal government best practices. o Validate and verify procedures to ensure alignment with OHSS business operations. Quality Assurance and Problem Resolution o Conduct quality assurance checks to ensure system reliability and adaptability. o Identify and resolve technical issues related to report automation and database management. Collaboration and Communication: o Liaise effectively between business stakeholders and technical teams. Facilitate meetings, follow up on decisions and tasks, and document conclusions. Requirements Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
Experience: Minimum 1 years of experience as an IT Systems Analyst or similar role, with demonstrated expertise in analyzing, designing, and implementing technology solutions. Technical Skills: Proficiency in programming languages including Python and Java. Experience developing and maintaining web interfaces utilizing modern frameworks and technologies (e.g., React, Angular, or similar). Strong knowledge and hands-on experience working with PostgreSQL databases, including database modeling, SQL querying, performance tuning, and data migration. Preferred Qualifications: Experience gathering and documenting system requirements, creating system specifications, and performing impact analyses. Familiarity with report automation methodologies and software development lifecycle (SDLC). Excellent communication and analytical problem-solving skills, with the ability to liaise effectively between business stakeholders and technical teams.
