FedWriters is building a team and is seeking an IT System Administrator to support the Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) operations at NIST. As the IT System Administrator, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining the technical infrastructure that supports this large-scale program. You will ensure system reliability, security, and performance while working closely with the project team to implement technical solutions that enhance program efficiency and accessibility. Your cloud expertise will be vital in maintaining and improving the program's digital footprint. This position is contingent upon contract award. Work Schedule and Location: Remote: This full-time remote position will work Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm. Will need to occasionally attend meetings at the NSF headquarters in Alexandria, VA. Responsibilities Manage and maintain IT systems supporting the Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) Ensure system reliability, security, and performance across program platforms Implement cloud-based solutions and best practices using AWS infrastructure Support digital accessibility by implementing Section 508 compliance measures Troubleshoot technical issues and provide timely resolution to system problems Collaborate with project teams to understand technical requirements and implement appropriate solutions Respond to NSF inquiries and requests within the same business day Work collaboratively with NSF program directors, staff, and IT support on an ongoing basis Configure and maintain system security measures to protect program data Provide technical support for program participants including academic faculty and students Document system configurations, processes, and procedures Perform regular system updates and maintenance to ensure optimal performance Additional roles and responsibilities shall be determined by the Contractor Qualifications Required Qualifications: 6+ years of progressive IT experience 2+ years of experience within federal IT Cloud modernization projects specifically on AWS Experience supporting or managing large-scale IT systems and infrastructure Knowledge of Section 508 accessibility technical provisions for online systems and data management Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills Experience dealing with system users, including providing technical support to non-technical audiences Ability to communicate effectively with academic individuals including science faculty and students Experience coordinating with government agency staff and responding promptly to requests Knowledge of IT security best practices and compliance requirements Preferred Qualifications: Drupal CMS expertise AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator, or equivalent) Experience supporting federal program IT systems Knowledge of federal IT compliance requirements Experience with database management and administration Background in scientific or educational program technical support Experience implementing and maintaining accessibility features for digital platforms FedWriters is an Equal Opportunity Employer, including disability/vets.
