Why does the job exist?

This position will support critical security requirements, including, but not limited to, log monitoring, threat mitigation, and audit response. This position supports configuring, installing and maintaining physical and virtual server infrastructure; making recommendations and implementing improvements and enhancements to the department server infrastructure; performing performance monitoring for problems and vulnerabilities, maintenance and troubleshooting; maintaining and review documentation of the infrastructure and researching and assessing emerging technologies.

How does it get done?

This position will configure, test, install, maintain and troubleshoot security logging, AD, including users/computers and group policies. Monitor and resolve security threats. Produce and maintain documentation. Apply approved network security configuration standards and requirements. Ensure Windows servers and clients remain patched and updated. Provide assistance in the configuration, testing, installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of the virtual environment. Provide advanced server support (Windows OS, DNS, DHCP, etc)

Who are the customers?

This position supports all of Taxation and Revenue Department (TRD) internal and external clients including other information technology sections.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have experience with the following:

At least two (2) years of experience in system administration
Experience with Active Directory and Group Policies
Experience with Windows System Update Service

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology, Engineering, or similar technical degree and two (2) years of experience in systems administration. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment. Must be current with all tax reporting/payment. Employment is subject to post offer pre-employment criminal background check to include fingerprint checks and is conditional pending results.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and telephone usage with extended periods of sitting. Some standing, bending and reaching may be required. Must be able to lift 25lbs. Occasionally will work extra hours, weekends and holidays. Some travel may be required
