Job Title - IT Support Technician - Part-Time

Duration - 3-month temporary assignment with opportunity for conversion to Client's temporary part-time employee ($25/hr. to $35/hr. range)

Work Hours - Day shift, under 29 hours per week - In-office work Monday through Friday - client is located downtown Richmond, parking is provided.

General Summary:

The IT Support Technician is responsible for assisting with inventory management to maintain sufficient supplies of devices and accessories required to support the agency. This position also assists in developing and improving comprehensive asset lifecycle management processes, updating and reconciling records in ITAM, and conducting regular physical audits to ensure accurate tracking of IT assets.

The technician configures and assigns hardware, including but not limited to desktops and laptops running Windows 10/11, and installs network printers. Responsibilities also include updating, securing, and administering Apple iPads and iPhones via JAMF. Technical knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory and its components-such as DNS, DHCP, and Users and Computers OU structure-is required.

Asset Management Responsibilities:

  • Assist in inventory management to ensure sufficient device and accessory supplies.


  • Update and reconcile records in ITAM; regularly conduct physical audits.


  • Maintain ITAM records of IT asset contracts and licenses.


  • Participate in asset-related audits.


  • Help ensure optimization and compliance of all IT assets.


  • Coordinate allocation of IT equipment to employees, including setup and retrieval of hardware from departing staff.


IT Asset Lifecycle Management:

  • Support development and improvement of comprehensive asset lifecycle processes.


  • Assist in documenting and tracking asset lifecycles from procurement to disposal.


  • Collaborate with Procurement, InfoSec, Finance, and IT to streamline processes.


  • Help ensure effective asset management to reduce costs and ensure availability.


Desktop Support:

  • Configure and assign laptops, desktops, and other IT equipment within 72 hours of approved request.


  • Ensure devices have encrypted hard drives and are enrolled in Intune, Entra ID, on-prem AD, etc.


  • Support deployment of Windows 11 devices.


  • Update Help Desk system (Ivanti) with accurate problem and resolution details.


  • Manage user accounts, including setup, password resets, and rights assignments.


  • Maintain up-to-date documentation on configurations, procedures, and common issue resolutions.


  • Coordinate with vendors for repair of equipment under warranty or service contracts.


ITSM Workflows:

  • Use IT Service Management software to document, track, and manage support requests.


  • Assist IT Service Analyst in developing and refining ITSM processes for efficiency and user satisfaction.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two-year degree in Information Technology or related field.


  • CompTIA A+ or Microsoft 365 Fundamentals certification preferred.


  • Minimum five years of experience with Microsoft network fundamentals and LAN/WAN infrastructure.


  • Experience with Microsoft device deployment (Autopilot) and Active Directory administration.


  • Attention to detail for accurate documentation and tracking of serial numbers, licenses, and compliance data.


  • Technical proficiency in hardware/software assets, functions, and lifecycle stages.


  • Positive attitude and user-focused service approach.


  • Ability to explain technical information to non-technical users.


  • Basic knowledge of asset management, compliance, vendor management, and procurement.


  • Working knowledge of Microsoft on-prem and Azure Active Directory, including DNS and DHCP.


  • Proficiency with Windows 10/11, Apple iOS, and macOS.


  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.


Comparable training and experience may be substituted for the above qualifications.

Special Requirements:

  • Selected candidate must complete a Client Security Background Investigation.
