Job Title: IT Support Technician
Location: Columbus, Ohio (50% travel required to statewide facilities)
Salary: $40,000 - $50,000
Position Summary: Seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented IT Support Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide essential technological support, troubleshooting, and maintenance of computer systems, hardware, and networking infrastructure. This position requires someone who is proficient in a wide range of computer systems, software, and applications, with the ability to resolve technical issues and provide guidance to staff. The successful candidate will embody core values and provide superior customer service while ensuring the smooth operation of technology systems across our facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide basic problem solving and assistance on various software applications and hardware systems for department users.
- Perform routine technological systems support, maintenance, and testing to ensure the proper upkeep of systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve general system hardware, software, and network failures and conflicts.
- Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of computers, workstations, printers, and other related equipment and devices.
- Manage VoIP phone systems, including installation, configuration, and the consolidation of locations from one VoIP system to another (e.g., porting numbers and installing hardware).
- Provide basic troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance for computer equipment (e.g., microcomputers, disk drives, laser printers).
- Test personal computers and peripherals on a network to diagnose and resolve hardware versus software issues.
- Stay current with technological developments, applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Travel to statewide facilities (approximately 50% travel) to provide on-site support and resolve technical issues.
- Serve as a positive representative, including providing superior customer service, maintaining high standards of integrity and trust, and fostering continuous improvement.
- Abide by all safety regulations to ensure the safety of yourself, coworkers, and customers.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; at least 2 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
- Bachelor's degree or practical experience in IT (gained through internships, entry-level positions, or personal projects) is preferred.
- Knowledge of a wide range of computer systems software, applications, hardware, networking, and communications.
- Familiarity with current technological developments and trends in IT.
- Ability to provide direction to staff to resolve technological issues effectively.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to determine computer problems and coordinate hardware, software, and network solutions.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail for accurate processing and review of work.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to analyze and resolve basic computer problems independently.
