Job Description:

We are seeking a proactive and service-oriented IT Support Specialist to join our dynamic and fast-paced biotechnology environment. The ideal candidate will thrive in a regulated environment and bring both technical expertise and strong interpersonal skills to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.

The IT Support Specialist role serves as the primary point of contact for end users, providing hands-on support across hardware, software, network systems, and lab-specific IT infrastructure.

Reporting Relationship:

The IT Support Specialist will report directly to the Associate Director, IT.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the first-line support for employees by responding to IT support requests via phone, email, and ticketing systems.
  • Diagnosing and resolving issues related to hardware, software, mobile devices, and peripherals.
  • Install, configure, and maintain operating systems and enterprise applications across desktops and laptops.
  • Administer and support Microsoft 365 applications and services, including Exchange, Intune, SharePoint, Teams, and Defender.
  • Support laboratory IT systems in coordination with internal stakeholders and external vendors, ensuring compliance with security and operational standards.
  • Ensure all systems comply with GxP, 21 CFR Part 11, and SOX requirements where applicable.
  • Provision and configure new employee workstations, ensuring all IT equipment is properly deployed and functioning.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot network connectivity, printing infrastructure, and endpoint security.
  • Maintain and update IT asset inventory and documentation.
  • Follow escalation procedures for unresolved or high-priority incidents.
  • Contribute to cybersecurity initiatives by promoting and enforcing IT policies and best practices.
  • Create and maintain clear, user-friendly documentation of issues, resolutions, and standard procedures.

Qualifications:
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in information technology or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 1-5 years of experience in IT support, help desk, or network support roles.
  • Proficient with Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365 SaaS, and remote support tools.
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.).
  • Experience working in ticketing systems and structured IT support environments.
  • Strong problem-solving, time management, and communication skills.
  • Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively across teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Hands-on experience with firewall configurations and network security tools.
  • Exposure to Rapid7 MDR or similar Managed Detection and Response systems.
  • Familiarity with ManageEngine or similar ITSM/remote monitoring platforms.
  • CompTIA certifications such as A+, Network+, or equivalent are a plus.
  • Prior experience in biotech/pharmaceutical industry a plus.

Compensation:
  • This is a full-time position, Monday-Friday, with occasional overtime.

This role may also be eligible for short-term or long-term incentive compensation, including but not limited to cash bonuses.
