IT Support Specialist

REPORTS TO: Application Support Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

The IT Support Specialist is responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, development, and supervision of all activities related to the support of personal computing hardware, software, and peripherals. This includes devices such as desktop printers, mobile label printers, cell phones, desktop phones, factory floor monitors, keyboards, mice and cables for all connections. The role involves installing company-related software programs, applications, and third-party solutions to meet organizational business requirements. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Responsible for maintaining an inventory of all assets and recommending the replacement
  • of computers and devices as they reach their end of life.
  • Supports and maintains all label printers on the factory floor, oversees the installation and maintenance of Factory Manufacturing Execution System (MES) terminals, weight scales, and connects Internet of Things (IoT) devices within the factory environment.
  • Manage and support existing cell phones and desktop phones, encompassing the
  • configuration and installation of new related equipment.
  • Support and maintain Factory MES terminals and all associated devices connected to these
  • terminals, as well as factory-related sensors on the plant floor.
  • Work collaboratively with the Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) team on Factory
  • MES functionality, assisting with data collection and entry into the system.
  • Support and maintain internal security cameras, including the installation of new cameras, and liaise with vendors for support and procurement.
  • Provide oversight to ensure adherence to standards through reviews of project work, including detailed technical specifications and application code.
  • Collaborate with the Application Support Manager and business departments to define requirements for computer equipment and related needs.
  • Ensure all unused IT assets are stored securely or provide a plan for disposal using a third-
  • party disposal company.
  • Communicate project status updates to the Application Support Manager.
  • Oversee technology and standards for version control.
  • Participate in the IT on-call support rotation and respond to after-hours notifications for any IT-related issues.
  • 5-15% possible travel to attend conferences
  • Perform other projects and duties as delegated by the Application Support Manager.
  • Serve as a backup to the Application Support Manager and System Administrator, with cross-training provided in all relevant areas.
  • Ensure that food safety, legality, and quality standards are always maintained.
  • Regular attendance for scheduled shifts is a requirement of this position.

Minimum Job Requirements:

EDUCATION:
BA/BS degree preferred, and 1 to 2+ years of relevant work experience preferred

EXPERIENCE:
Knowledge computer hardware and mobile devices. A passion for all things, tech and has a drive to experiment with new technologies to see where they can benefit the business. Excellent communication skills. An interest in staying hands-on technical as well as an out-of-the-box thinker. Established project management skills.

Technical experience in the following:
  • Networking: NT, Windows 8 and above, Cisco Routers, Hubs, VPN and Firewalls, Troubleshooting
  • Hardware: NT, Windows 2008 servers or greater; PCs in Windows 8, 10, and 11
  • Ability to troubleshoot WIFI access points
  • Ability to troubleshoot label printers used with data collection
  • Email: MS Office 365 Outlook
  • MS Office: Office 365 Apps
  • Preferred - Database management: Either MS SQL Server 2010 or greater; MS 2010 Access or greater. Ability to backup and restore databases.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to bend, stoop, squat, reach above head, lift 50 pounds, sit, walk or stand for long periods of time, use keyboard and calculator, see, hear, read, learn and speak.
