Reports to: Chief Technology Officer

Position summary: IT Student Interns support the Technology Department and efforts to improve overall support and enhance the technology infrastructure within District 215 schools while acquiring valuable skills and knowledge that will benefit them in their future careers.

Role qualifications:
  • Must be a current District 215 student who is eager to gain hands-on experience in the field of education technology.
  • Successful completion of technology-related courses preferred.
Position responsibilities:
  • Assist in Setup and Maintenance: Collaborate with District 215 Technology team to set up and maintain computers, printers, and other technology equipment throughout the district.
  • Troubleshoot Technical Issues: Respond to technical issues reported by teachers and staff, providing timely solutions and ensuring smooth operation of technology resources.
  • Routine Maintenance Tasks: Perform routine tasks such as software updates and classroom equipment rebuilds to optimize functionality.
  • Software and Hardware Implementation: Support the implementation of new software and hardware initiatives as directed by the Technology Department.
  • Basic Training: Provide basic training sessions for teachers, staff and parents on using technology tools and resources effectively.
  • Inventory and Organization: Assist in managing the inventory and organization of technology equipment and supplies.
  • Technology Projects: Contribute to technology-related projects as needed, gaining practical experience in project management.
  • Parent Support: Assist parents with technical issues as directed by the Technology Department.
  • Punctuality and Dependability: Consistently arrives at work on time, works entire shift, and completes all tasks assigned.

  • Independence and Teamwork: The ability to work independently and as part of a team, adapting to various situations.
  • Productivity Software Familiarity: Familiarity with common productivity software, including Microsoft Office.

Terms of Employment:
  • Starting wage is $17.00/hour
  • Consistent attendance and punctuality are critical for this position. Students applying must be able to commit to consistent attendance during the summer and school year. Student Interns are expected to work June 2025 though May 2026 with the following schedule:
    • Summer: 6/16/2025 - 8/15/2025, Monday through Thursday, from 8 am to 4 pm (except June 19th and July 4th), paid 30-minute lunch and two paid 15-minute breaks, or one-hour lunch (with supervisor approval)
    • School Year: 8/18/2025 - 5/28/2026, Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday, 45 minutes of student lunch periods and 45 minutes before and/or after school, not to exceed 6 hours per week.
