Additional Skills & Qualifications
This opportunity can provide for further career advancement within the NGEN program. Our customer is always looking for the top performances on a team about what other opportunities they may be interested in.
Employee Value Proposition (EVP)
Leidos is the Prime, supporting the Dept of the Navy and Marines to provide IT services via the NMCI (Navy Marine Corp Intranet). They're supporting one of the largest intranets in the world, supporting over 600,000 seats across the globe. They're on the next iteration of the program which will be 8 years. This team is very cohesive and many have been on the team for a long period of time, so stability is definitely a perk. While everyone works out of what they call base ops, taking calls and supporting the customer, there are opportunities to elevate and solely support customers if they want. Once the consultant gets to a level where they're able to be more autonomous, they can request to do premiere work, where they'd support only one customer, but would be the sole IT support person in that building.
Work Environment
The ideal candidate will work in a service desk environment, where everyone sits closely together, to be able to bounce ideas back and forth. The environment is very collaborative and the technicians typically share work or take one another on their calls to provide support to customers on base.
Business Drivers/Customer Impact
NGEN is the follow-on acquisition approach to providing enterprise network services that were originally consolidated in 2000 under the Navy Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI) contract, which is considered the U.S. government's largest information technology (IT) outsourcing program, providing IT services to more than 700,000 Navy and Marine Corps users. The goals during the transition from NMCI to NGEN are to maintain continuity of services, provide an increased level of Government control, maintain information security, remain within fiscal parameters and minimize time to transition to NGEN.
