Job Summary

Westfield Insurance is seeking a versatile professional with expertise in IT Program and Project Management who embodies servant leadership skills. The ideal candidate would have experience within non-Agile methodologies and be proficient/familiar with Agile methodologies. The primary focus of this position is on IT Project Management with some IT Program Management. The candidate should be prepared to assume the role of Program Manager or Project Manager in the near term while also be open to scrum master opportunities in the future to meet our growing and dynamic business.

Job Responsibilities

Program Manager Role:

In the role of Program Manager, you will be accountable for leading across related projects within a program, aligning them with the organization's strategic goals to ensure successful delivery of expected business outcomes. Your primary responsibilities will include:
  • Strategic Vision and Objectives: Helps plan and execute the program initiatives that enable the desired business objectives and outcomes.
  • Program Planning and Execution: Lead the creation of the program management plan and oversee all program activities/milestones through execution including program risks, issues, dependencies, and decisions.
  • People Leadership: Accountable for managing program level people and influencing across program people (Business, IT, Vendor, and Project/Scrum Masters) holding them accountable to overall delivery (budget, timeline, scope, change management).
  • Change Management: Identification and execution support of applicable change management across impacted stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder Management: Engages, prepares presentations (milestones, financials, risks, issues, etc.) to communicate with key stakeholders across the program and at senior/executive level to ensure alignment.
  • Vendor Management: Accountable for partnering with vendor(s) on all Program Management activities and deliverables. Overall responsibility for partnering with vendor(s) and program and business delivery teams for planning, execution, risks, issues, dependencies, and key decisions.
  • Financial Management: Creates, manages, monitors, and reports out on the program's financials.
Core competencies include strong leadership and communication skills, the ability to manage ambiguity, lead through significant complexity, manage conflict and influence without direct control with a servant leadership mindset.

Project Manager Role:

In the role of Project Manager, you will oversee a range of complexity and concurrent projects, ensuring delivery aligns with our strategic business objectives. Your primary responsibilities will include:
  • Develop and manage project plans, scope, timelines, and budgets.
  • Coordinate people and resources, tasks, and deliverables.
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Communicate project status to stakeholders and senior management.
  • Ensure adherence to project management processes and standards.
  • Collaborate with delivery team members (developers, test engineers, data analysts, etc.).
Core competencies include strong leadership and communication skills, technical proficiency in relevant technologies and software, creative problem-solving skills, and good organization/time management skills with a servant leadership mindset.

Scrum Master / Team Coach Role (Plus):

In the role of Scrum Master / Team Coach, you will play a pivotal role in facilitating our agile delivery. Your primary responsibilities will include:
  • Lead and facilitate agile ceremonies, including iteration planning, team syncs, iteration reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Focuses on advancing the agile team in their ability to deliver value to their customer and our organization.
  • Coach and mentor team members on agile principles, best practices, and continuous improvement.
  • Remove impediments and foster a collaborative, high-performing environment.
  • Helps the team identify opportunities to better measure and improve flow.
  • Drive the adoption of agile methodologies across the organization.
Core competencies include ability to lead and empower others through servant leadership, coach and develop individuals and teams, good facilitation skills, strong understanding of agile framework, principles, and practices, and demonstrates a growth mindset. Experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) is a plus.

Job Qualifications
  • Preferred certifications: PMP (Project Management Professional), PgMP (Program Management Professional) or equivalent certification.
  • Certifications that are a plus: Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
  • 1-3 years of program management, with a focus on IT projects.
  • 5+ years of experience in IT project management.
  • 2 years of experience in a Scrum Master role within an IT (Preferred).
  • Experience within variety of methodologies (Waterfall, Iterative, Agile, Scrum, Kanban, SAFe).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large-scale, complex projects.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills with experience in mentoring and coaching teams with a servant leadership mindset.
  • Proven track record of successful strategy implementation and change management.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, Management, or a related discipline and/or commensurate experience.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
Location

Hybrid defined as three (3) or more days per week in the office.
