SRT is seeking an IT Security Engineer to join our technology team. The IT Security Engineer will be responsible to leverage advanced technical expertise to engineer, deploy, and manage IT Security Infrastructure to help safeguard the organization's computer networks, sensitive data, and systems from intrusion. Develop a set of security standards and best practices for the organization and recommend security enhancements to management. Will work to identify and resolve security vulnerabilities. Develop strategies to respond to and recover from security incidents. Develop and implement risk and third-party risk plans in accordance with industry frameworks. Also responsible for educating the workforce on information security through training and building awareness. Adapt engineering efforts and system architecture to the changing needs of the corporate network, data center, ISP core, and customer base.

Key Responsibilities: (not an all-inclusive list)
  • Design, deploy, and manage critical IT security systems: Lead the engineering, implementation, and administration of IT security infrastructure Oversee end-to-end lifecycle management, from initial planning to deployment and ongoing maintenance.
  • Develop security policies and procedures: Work with management to develop cyber security policies and procedures that align with industry's best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead incident response: During incidents, use the incident response plan to minimize the impact to the organization. Then conduct a technical and forensic investigation to determine how the incident occurred and ways to prevent future incidents.
  • Continuous monitoring and testing of the organization's assets: Continuously monitor the network and assets for signs of malicious activity. Periodically use scans and penetration testing to identify vulnerabilities in the organization.
  • Develop and implement logging and monitoring strategies for key systems: Utilize new and existing tools to design comprehensive logging and monitoring frameworks, enabling proactive system management and rapid response to issues. Continuously refine strategies to enhance infrastructure visibility.
Required Knowledge & Skills:
  • Solid understanding of networking, storage, compute, and security technologies
  • Experience deploying and managing firewalls, servers, and security tools.
  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex system interdependencies.
  • Familiarity with security tools, concepts, and protocols
  • Familiarity with security frameworks and standards like NIST CSF, CIS Security Controls, PCI DSS, and CMMC
  • Experience securing networks and system endpoints.
  • Ability to manage and complete projects with minimal supervision.
  • Self-motivated with a strong commitment to continuous learning and development
  • Ability to engage in strategic operational and architectural discussions.
  • Ability to serve as a primary support contact and participate in a rotating on-call.
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline or equivalent foundational experience
  • 5+ years professional experience in an IT security related
  • Has achieved a general security certification like Security+, GSEC, or equivalent.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
  • 7+ years professional experience in IT system engineering and operations
  • Has achieved an advanced certification like GCED, CISM, or equivalent.
  • Experience working in mission-critical, high-availability environments.
  • Experience with service provider network architectures
  • Extensive experience deploying and maintaining Linux and/or Windows servers.
  • Extensive experience with risk management, incident response, and threat hunting
  • Proficiency with at least one programming or scripting language.
  • Comprehensive understanding of IT security principles and design considerations
  • Ability to coach and mentor junior engineers.
  • Adept at creating and maintaining detailed technical documentation.
  • Skilled at conveying complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
