Summary:The key skills required for a
mid-level IT Security Analyst role are: a combination of hands-on technical security expertise, breadth of security responsibilities, security compliance knowledge, strong communication abilities, and an adaptable, learning-oriented mindset.
- Hands-on Technical Security Skills: The candidate must have direct experience with security tools and technologies such as vulnerability scanning (Qualys, Tenable/Nessus, Rapid7), SIEM monitoring (AlienVault, Splunk, QRadar), cloud security, DLP, IAM, and MDM
- Breadth of Security Responsibilities: The analyst will need to handle a variety of security tasks, with vulnerability management, SIEM monitoring, and secure internet access being the top priorities. They should be comfortable with this breadth of security responsibilities.
- Security Compliance and Governance: The analyst must have general knowledge of security compliance frameworks like HIPAA/HITECH and SOC2, as well as experience in security risk identification, analysis, and mitigation
