The mission of VCU's Office of Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) is to maximize philanthropic support by engaging stakeholders with all VCU schools, programs and campuses as one development and alumni relations community. We implement best practices and efficient strategies to achieve a comprehensive development program.

The IT Project Manager will be responsible for the successful execution of assigned IT projects within defined scope, schedule, and budget. This role will coordinate resources, manage timelines, and ensure clear communication among multiple teams. This flexible, hourly position is expected to work between 20-30 hours per week within core business hours of 7am - 7pm EDT and closely collaborate with staff based in Richmond, Virginia.

This is a restricted position, limited to an approximate 6-9-month appointment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage day-to-day project activities, including task assignments, progress tracking, and issue resolution
  • Develop, organize and maintain project documentation, including project plans, status reports, and risk assessments
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure project alignment and successful delivery communicating in ways that inform, manage or influence project outcomes
  • Monitor project progress, anticipate and identify potential risks or delays; assist in implementing mitigation strategies as needed
  • Facilitate project meetings and provide regular updates to stakeholders
  • Maintain accurate records of project expenses and resource utilization
  • Ensure adherence to established project management methodologies and standards
Required qualifications:
  • Proven experience in IT project management demonstrated by PMP, CSM or other relevant certification
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in SmartSheet, Jira, Atlassian, or other cloud PM tools
  • Experience working in a Google Workspace environment
  • Experience managing technical projects related to fundraising, constituent engagement, or higher education
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU
Job Specific Requirement:
  • Hybrid work available; must be available for predictable block scheduling during the hours of 7:00am - 7:00pm EDT.

Salary Range: $35-$50/hour
