Skill Level: Subject Matter Expert Position Summary: The Network Engineer will support the Sponsor's office in the design, implementation, and operation of hybrid-cloud mission infrastructure and services. This includes managing network systems, troubleshooting network issues, maintaining network performance, and ensuring the integration of new technologies into the existing infrastructure. The position will involve engineering support for both network and digital forensic systems, including hardware, software, and virtualization solutions. The role requires providing on-call support, system analysis, and project coordination to maintain continuous IT system operation and sponsor accreditation. Key Responsibilities: Perform network engineering support including continuous monitoring, troubleshooting, and restoring network performance.
Design, configure, and maintain network infrastructure, including routing and switching systems (Cisco required).
Support the deployment and maintenance of virtualization infrastructure, including virtual servers and desktops.
Produce and maintain network topology diagrams, technical documentation, and proposals for network upgrades and technology changes.
Provide tier-3 support and engineering for system infrastructure, including Windows, Linux servers, virtualization, and storage solutions.
Manage network configuration and integration with an emphasis on performance optimization.
Implement and support network security protocols, including firewalls and ACLs, as well as VPNs and MPLS networks.
Perform risk assessments, troubleshoot issues with overseas populations, and ensure system integrity across various networks.
Provide 24/7 on-call support to global users, ensuring timely resolution of issues.
Collaborate with vendors and application developers to enhance network and forensic capabilities.
Required Skills: Expertise in Cisco routing and switching, VPN implementation (L2/L3), and IP address management.
Proficiency in configuring and managing virtualization technologies such as VMware, vCenter, and NSX-T.
Experience in network security, firewalls, ACLs, and vulnerability scanning tools.
Hands-on experience with forensic tools like Cellebrite, XRY, FTK, and Autopsy.
Strong troubleshooting skills, with a focus on network systems, server infrastructure, and performance metrics.
Familiarity with software-defined networking (SDN), automation solutions, and network design.
Ability to create and manage network topology diagrams and provide technical support for infrastructure systems.
Experience with Linux server administration, including configuration, troubleshooting, and patch management.
Desired Skills: Knowledge of Software-Defined Networking (SDN) and load balancing technologies (e.g., F5 BIG-IP, Citrix Netscaler).
Ability to clearly communicate technical procedures to both technical and non-technical audiences.
