Summary:
The IT Network Engineer plays a crucial role in maintaining the daily operations of the organization's enterprise network. This position is responsible for the design, installation, configuration, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of network infrastructure systems. The IT Network Engineer collaborates with third-party vendors, participates in projects, and works closely with internal IT teams to ensure the secure and efficient operation of the organization's network infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the daily operations of the organization's IT network infrastructure.
• Install, configure, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot network infrastructure hardware, software, and virtualization systems.
• Collaborate with senior network engineers, administrators, and IT operations technicians on projects and daily tasks.
• Support data, voice, and video networks.
• Provide regular reports to the IT Infrastructure Manager and assist with vendor quotes and procurement.
• Maintain and audit IT network infrastructure documentation, including configurations, SOPs, service records, asset inventories, and topologies.
• Ensure secure data, voice, and video transfer, adhering to compliance regulations such as PCI, HIPAA, and GDPR.
• Work with third-party vendors and cross-functional teams to support the IT infrastructure.
• Mentor and cross-train team members and technicians in network-related areas.
• Stay up-to-date with networking and security best practices and technologies to enhance IT infrastructure solutions.
• All other duties as assigned.
Experience/Qualifications:
• 3+ years of experience in network engineering or network administration roles.
• Strong diagnostic, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Experience with the following:
o Installing and configuring Cisco network equipment, including Catalyst switches, routers, and wireless controllers.
o Configuring network firewalls (Cisco FTD, Meraki, Palo Alto).
o Administering Cisco ISE and Cisco Prime Infrastructure.
o Monitoring with SolarWinds products (e.g., SolarWinds Orion).
o Troubleshooting WAN, LAN, and wireless networks, including VPNs and captive portals.
o Hands-on experience with network and system virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V).
o Experience with structured cable systems (fiber and copper) and IT network closet power requirements.
o Knowledge of Linux and Microsoft Windows Server OS, including DHCP, DNS, and SSL certificates.
• Must be able to legally work in the USA.
Education and Certification(s)/License(s):
• Associate or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred.
• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
• Active network certification (must be maintained).
• Cisco Certified Specialist (Enterprise or Security) is preferred.
