The primary responsibilities for the IT Network Engineer are to fix any breakages with LAN and WAN connectivity at any of our global sites (through remote support and relaying instructions to on-site staff), to deploy new networking equipment and configurations, and to help stand up new networks and servers in AWS. The technical details are outlined in the next section. Besides the technical details, this position requires the following demeanor or soft skills:

3. Essential Functions

Estimated weight of associated position responsibilities:

60% On-Prem Networking Projects & Break-Fix

• Meraki & Palo Alto Firewalls

• HP & Cisco Switches

• Aruba Wireless Access Points

• Multiple locations globally (remote support)

• Indianapolis-area Datacenter

• VMWare and iSCSI

• Windows DHCP, DNS, and Active Directory

• On-Prem and Cloud email flow

• Develop and implement work instructions in accordance with Quality System

20% Cloud Networking Projects

• AWS multiple VPC's

• Routing & DNS

• Network connectivity migrating on-prem applications and services to AWS, supporting the Dev and DevOps teams.

20% Security Projects

• Security threats already identified by scanning tools

• Prioritize and implement solutions

• Apply patches or reconfigure settings

• Coordinate with other departments when direct action is not possible

Rare / as-needed: Helpdesk escalation. This position will serve as part of tier 3 in helpdesk support escalation, when issues there are too difficult for tiers 1 and 2, or in rare cases when management calls for additional manpower to clear a backlog of mundane tasks.

6. Required Qualifications

• 3+ years prior professional technical support experience

• Demonstrated knowledge/experience with ALL of the following, with any equipment manufacturer, unless otherwise noted.

o Switching

o Routing

o WAN Connectivity

o VLAN interconnectivity and isolation

o DHCP

o DNS

o Windows Server and Active Directory

o Cloud engineering

7. Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications - Microsoft, Cisco, VMWare, CompTIA, AWS, etc.

• Experience with the specific equipment we use:

o HP Switching and Routing

o Palo Alto Firewalls

o Cisco Meraki Firewalls

o AWS

• Experience with any of these additional technologies:

o VOIP

o Linux or UNIX

o Backup and DR

o eMail Systems

o PC/Server hardware repair

o Desktop OS and Application support

o OS Virtualization (VMWare, Hyper-V, etc.)

8. Schedule

• The schedule for this position is expected to work approximately 40 hours per week.

• The daily scheduled shift will be 8 hours, beginning no later than 9:00 AM and ending no earlier than 4:00 PM.

• This is a hybrid position of working in-person in our Indianapolis office and working remotely. The frequency of in-office days per week varies with company health and safety accommodations.

• This person is required to rotate weekend maintenance responsibility, resulting in a Saturday or Sunday shift approximately once every 6 weeks.

• The capability to travel as needed to our datacenter in central Indiana is required. For employees unable to drive, transportation may be provided by the company or exemption from this duty may be allowed.

• Willingness to travel to other POLARIS Laboratories locations around the world for 1 to 4 weeks per year would be preferred, but is not required for this position
