POSITION SUMMARY: The Network Engineer provides operational and technical support to ensure the ongoing stability of a multiple site WAN environment. In this role, you will be part of a small team responsible for supporting an infrastructure of wired and wireless network platforms supporting 42 remote sites through design, installation, configuration and ongoing maintenance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. This list is meant to be representative, not exhaustive. - Administer and manage assigned network and VoIP infrastructures (e.g. capacity/feasibility, planning, new installations, upgrades, configuration, feature functionality testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, backup systems, security procedures/protocols, operating procedures, guidelines and user connectivity) for the purpose of ensuring robust, stable district connectivity.
- Coordinate a variety of record keeping activities for the purpose of ensuring availability of facilities and/or equipment and delivering services in conformance to established guidelines.
- Maintain fixed assets system for technology for the purpose of updating records and ensuring that the district resources are tracked (E-Rate).
- Monitor assigned district activities and/or program components (e.g. budget activities, work requests, telephone/cellular inquiries, utility bills, etc.) for the purpose of coordinating activities and ensuring compliance with established financial, legal and/or
- administrative requirements.
- Provide assistance as necessary for the purpose of helping end-users resolve technical problems that have been assigned through work orders.
- Provide network support and build-outs (e.g. security, routing, switching, wireless, and other network related duties) for the purpose of ensuring coverage for district use in existing and new construction.
- Respond to a wide variety of calls, concerns and/or complaints for the purpose of resolving problems, providing information and/or referring to appropriate personnel.
- Act as liaison between District and various vendors providing support.
- Assist with planning/forecasting for any grant applications or E-Rate applications for the purpose of supporting district financial compliance, tracking and funding.
- Coordinate a variety of processes with vendors, managers and end-users for the purpose of ensuring communication and direction around district connectivity.
- Responsibilities include: working independently under broad organizational policies to achieve organizational objectives; directing other persons within a small work unit. Utilization of resources from other work units may be required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to significantly impact the organization's services.
- Maintains strict confidentiality of accessible District information resources.
- As part of the Infrastructure team, collaborates to provides intermediate-level support, troubleshooting and management of all technical infrastructure components.
- As part of a team, develops long-range operational goals for infrastructure systems.
- Participates as a Technology Services team member and fully supports efforts of the technology leadership team for the purpose of building a strong department team that supports the District's mission and goals.
- Trains department & district users on appropriate technologies as necessary.
- Establishes appropriate preventative maintenance schedules for infrastructure equipment.
- Serves as backup for other infrastructure team staff when warranted.
- Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
- Performs firmware and hardware upgrades on network equipment.
- Supports wide-area fiber network, monitor resource consumption, and enterprise level network management and planning.
- Manages network switches and services on a converged network such as Data, VoIP, Wi-Fi, Security Cameras, VoIP telephones, fax lines, intercom support, etc.
- System software support for various applications such as Zoom Telephone, Zoom Digital signage, and Destiny Library System.
- Provide limited low-voltage support for network cabling including POTS line support including emergency phone, elevator, fire and security lines in buildings.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: - Participate in and successfully complete self-study as well as formal training classes as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience Bachelor's Degree (or working towards successful completion)
Three (3) years of hands-on work-related experience in an environment with multiple locations, including switch, router, cabling, design, installation and monitoring duties.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Evidence of outstanding customer service skills
Must have specific vision abilities required by this position including; close vision, color vision, distant vision, and peripheral vision.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with HPE, Aruba or similar network equipment
Experience with Aruba wireless AP's, configuration and monitoring
Experience working in a public-school system
CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT: Work scheduled hours on a consistent basis
Valid Washington State driver's license
Must have access to a vehicle for local travel within the District
KNOWLEDGE OF: Network switch, router and firewall management.
Networking principles, configuration, troubleshooting and installation.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will constantly sit, stand and walk, bend neck and back, use hands for fine manipulation, repetitive grasping and pushing/pulling. The employee must constantly lift/carry up to 10 pounds and must frequently lift /carry up to 20 pounds. The employee will occasionally lift/carry a maximum of 35 lbs.
