JOB PURPOSE

The IT Network Engineer will play a critical role in ensuring the organization's network infrastructure operates seamlessly, securely, and efficiently to meet business objectives. This position is responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing management of advanced network systems, with a primary emphasis on leveraging Fortinet technologies, such as FortiGate firewalls and FortiSwitches, to deliver robust connectivity and protection. The role demands a proactive approach to maintaining network integrity, optimizing performance, and safeguarding against evolving security threats.

In this capacity, the Network Engineer will serve as a technical expert, bridging the gap between operational needs and cutting-edge networking solutions. They will collaborate closely with cross-functional IT teams to architect scalable network designs, deploy secure configurations, and troubleshoot complex issues that impact system reliability or data integrity. By utilizing Fortinet's suite of tools, including centralized management and analytics platforms, the engineer will ensure comprehensive visibility into network activity, enabling rapid response to incidents and continuous improvement of infrastructure resilience.

Beyond technical execution, the role involves documenting processes, mentoring team members, and staying abreast of industry trends to recommend enhancements that align with organizational growth. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Job Functions:

• Design, configure, and deploy Fortinet-based network solutions, including FortiGate firewalls and FortiSwitches.

• Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to ensure uptime and reliability.

• Perform firewall policy management, including creating and optimizing security rules, NAT configurations, and VPN setups (ADVPN/IPsec/SSL).

• Conduct regular maintenance, updates, and patching of Fortinet devices to maintain security and compliance.

• Collaborate with IT teams to integrate Fortinet solutions with existing infrastructure and third-party systems.

• Analyze network traffic and security logs using FortiAnalyzer and FortiManager to identify and mitigate potential threats.

• Provide technical support and training to staff on Fortinet systems and best practices.

• Document network configurations, processes, and procedures for operational continuity.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical Demands: Requires sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Requires frequent walking, bending, and reaching to shoulder level. Requires occasional squatting, lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling weights up to 20 pounds. Requires repetitive hand movement. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

Equipment Operated: Ability to operate office machines and equipment and troubleshoot problems with equipment.

Work Location: Remote Travel within the USA and Canada may be required, as needed

Education/Training: Associate degree or higher or equivalent qualifications.

Experience: 3+ years of experience in network engineering, with at least 2 years focused on Fortinet products.

Certificates/Licenses: Fortinet NSE (Network Security Expert) certification (e.g., NSE 4 or higher) preferred.
