Job Summary The System Manager, Strategic Portfolio & Program Management is accountable for monitoring the health of our Clinical Consumer Applications Data Portfolios and Programs. This leader will be responsible for ensuring alignment to our organization's strategic objectives, optimizing resource allocation, and enhancing overall operational efficiency. This leader should employ best practices and ensure the portfolio/program team is aware of alternative approaches, in their pursuit of defining portfolio roadmaps, monitoring portfolio health and managing escalations of critical risks and issues.

The System Manager, Strategic Portfolio & Program Management is expected to work autonomously and have minimal interaction with HR/Project Leader with regards to portfolio/program management methodology. When collaborating, the expectation is an awareness of items that will have an unexpected project outcome and provide recommendations to ensure there are minimal impacts to timelines.

This leader will be assigned to complex initiatives of significant scope, organizational impact and budget. They are expected to contribute to the continuous improvement of the project management lifecycle methodology.

Job Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor a team of Portfolio, Program and Project Managers
  • Oversee the development and implementation of portfolio, program and project management strategies, ensuring they align with the organization's vision and objectives
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among project teams and stakeholders, maintaining a focus on achieving business outcomes
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of portfolios, programs and projects, implementing corrective actions as needed to ensure successful delivery
  • Manage resource allocation and budgeting across multiple projects and programs, ensuring optimal utilization and financial efficiency
  • Provide expert guidance on project management methodologies, tools and best practices to team members
  • Collaborate with Senior leadership to define organizational priorities and translate them into actionable plans
  • Drive innovation in portfolio and program management processes, seeking opportunities for improvement and streamlining operations
  • Ensure compliance and regulatory standards and internal policies across all projects and programs
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • 3-5+ years of experience managing Portfolio Managers, Program Managers or Project Managers
  • 10+ years experience in portfolio/program management
  • Strong understanding of project and program management methodologies and best practices.
  • Experience in defining program/project management standards, process optimization and implementation is required.
  • Demonstrated experience engaging with and influencing Sr and Executive leadership
  • Ability to think strategically and execute methodically in a fast paced environment
  • Healthcare IT industry experience preferredProject Management Professional (PMP) Certification preferred.
