Job Summary Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Assists the IT Leader in carrying out existing programs/initiatives and enables them to support expansion of current programs and pursue new opportunities.
- Provides guidance, feedback, and leadership of IT support staff and/or hourly staff in day-to-day center operations.
- Develops strategies to effectively communicate and collaborate with a diverse set of stakeholders.
- Leads staff in the creating and maintaining of documentation such as standard operating procedures and job aids.
- Applies project management principles to enable subject matter experts to focus on IT-related functions.
- Responsible for the planning and implementation of IT project(s), often involving university staff from different teams and external partners on interrelated project tasks.
- Designs, creates, executes, and manages project work plans and work-flow documents; establishes project timelines and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
- Manages budgets and monitors progress of projects to ensure that quality and cost constraints are met.
- Responsible for reporting and documenting project milestones to share with leaders, stakeholders, and/or project partners.
- Researches and stays up-to-date with IT management, support, and security best practices, approaches, and trends.
General Responsibilities
- Provides advanced technical consulting, advising, and systems analysis services including multi-platform expertise for client-supported software and systems.
- Utilizing complex system analysis techniques and procedures, conducts research and evaluates use of existing technology solutions and their future releases, new product releases of client software, and emerging technologies, applications, and industry trends.
- Provides advice and consultation on more complex IT support situations; collaborates with appropriate technical staff on unique problems requiring specialized knowledge.
- Reviews and creates support documentation and monitor the creation and maintenance of Knowledge Base items, Tutorials, and Manuals; collaborates and guides the development, delivery, and organization of support content and educational resources.
- Conducts research and stays up-to-date on emerging technologies; makes recommendations to improve IT support processes and procedures.
- Leads project planning, formulating objectives, preparing proposals, and implementation; manages the conduct, recording, and presentation of project reports.
- Communicates effectively with clients and resolves the most complex escalated issues.
- Provides informal and formal training to faculty, staff, and students on information technology; provides training, leadership, and mentors less experienced support staff.
- Ensures all documentation standards are met (issues, resolutions, updates/changes).

EDUCATION
Required - Bachelor's degree (preferably in computer science or related field)
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required - 5 years providing technical computing support to users via direct consultation, development and delivery of computing education, writing user documentation, or related experience

Working Conditions / Demands This position requires the ability to communicate effectively and to operate computers and other related technical equipment. The role is required to maintain and interact with computers and frequently move objects weighing up to 50 pounds. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
