As the IT Infrastructure Manager, you will be responsible for the company's Information Technology infrastructure, including servers, backup, and associated services. The role involves providing strategic direction for technical improvements, managing the technical services budget, and implementing security controls. You will ensure technology service levels by managing updates, securing technology, and leading a team of technical specialists.

Main duties of the job

What your typical day looks like:

  • Maintain and support all IT infrastructure assets, including servers, storage, and network components.
  • Manage vendor and supplier relationships, ensuring accountability and maintaining detailed records of service deliverables for both project work and BAU operations.
  • Monitor IT performance and capacity, providing regular reports.
  • Resolve infrastructure faults and outages promptly, serving as the first escalation point beyond the Service Desk.
  • Implement and oversee backup procedures for all infrastructure assets.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for IT infrastructure issues.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Cyber Security & IT Project Manager to ensure appropriate threat mitigation, intrusion detection, and risk management for infrastructure assets.
  • Conduct regular one-to-one meetings for coaching and professional development of team members.
  • Manage the Infrastructure Support Team and support other Managers within the IT Department.
  • Lead on the 3rd line incident out-of-hours on-call service alongside the Technical Services Manager.

To be a successful IT Infrastructure Manager, you'll need:

  • Significant experience in a complex IT environment.
  • High-level technical knowledge of servers, storage, and Active Directory.
  • Experience in planning and implementing complex technical changes in critical infrastructure.
  • Ability to translate strategy into operational plans for IT/Telecom/network solutions.
  • Degree or equivalent qualification/experience.
  • MCSE or equivalent qualification/experience.
  • Ability to motivate and influence others.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical staff.
  • Ability to work independently and support others.
  • Capacity to manage conflicting priorities.
  • Commitment to quality standards.
  • Right to work in the UK.
Person Specification Qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent qualification/experience.
