Overview

The IT Help Desk Technician is an entry level, overtime eligible, technical position that reports to the IT Management Team. The IT Help Desk Technician is responsible for maintaining and monitoring end-user workstations. Performs a variety of maintenance, software installation, end-user support and training tasks to ensure end-user workstations meet company and user requirements.

The pay range for this position is $22.00 to $31.00 per hour. Compensation will be determined based on education, experience, and other factors in accordance with applicable laws.

Essential Functions
  • Administers end-user workstations and supports end-user activities on a primarily Microsoft Windows-based local area network (LAN).
  • Investigates and troubleshoots user problems and identifies their source; determines possible solutions; tests and implements solutions. Document resolutions for future reference.
  • Installs, configures, and maintains personal computers, Windows networks, and Apple workstations, file servers, network cabling, and other related equipment, devices, and systems; adds or upgrades and configures disk drives, printers and related equipment.
  • Serve as liaison between staff and the technology department to resolve issues.
  • Work one-on-one with and provide support to staff on company-supported application projects.
  • Perform hardware and software installations.
  • Provide computer orientation to new and existing company staff.
  • Maintains confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed by the end-users on the network.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Required:
  • Degree in IT or related field, 1-3 years of IT experience, or equivalent applicable work experience.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to nontechnical personnel.
  • Skilled in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Ability to identify and resolve computer system malfunctions and operations problems.
  • Knowledge of computer and/or network systems, applications, procedures, and techniques.
  • Experience working with Microsoft desktop products (OS, Office, Email), PC based equipment, printers and other peripherals is essential.
Preferred:
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Exposure to business processes and ERP systems is a plus.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to see color and to distinguish letters, numbers, and symbols.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Must be able to move objects up to 50 lbs.
  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
