Role: IT Field Service Engineer

As an IT Field Service Engineer, you will provide comprehensive IT support to our retail stores within the South region of the UK and Ireland. Your responsibilities include managing Tills, POS systems, payment systems, supporting store refurbishments, closures, and new openings. You will also train store staff on IT systems and ensure all IT equipment functions optimally to support store operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • IT Support for Stores: Provide on-site and remote support, troubleshoot issues, conduct scheduled maintenance, and work with the IT Operations Manager to identify support trends. Respond promptly to support requests, and assist during peak periods or in other regions as needed.
  • Store Projects: Assist with IT aspects of store refurbishments, closures, and openings. Configure new IT systems and decommission equipment during store closures.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with Store and Area Managers, and external suppliers to meet IT needs and resolve issues.
  • Training and Guidance: Train store staff on IT systems, create user guides, and promote best practices.
  • Travel and Flexibility: Travel extensively within the designated area, support after-hours activities during critical periods, and work from home as needed. Occasionally visit the head office for training and meetings.
  • Support and Monitoring: Monitor service desk solutions, assist with tickets, update the Knowledge Base, attend daily meetings, and collaborate with external support partners. Provide updates to the IT Operations Manager.

The Candidate:

  • Proven IT support experience, preferably in retail.
  • Strong knowledge of Till, POS, and payment systems hardware/software.
  • Efficient troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for supporting non-technical staff.
  • Organized with the ability to multitask.
  • Willingness to travel and work independently.
  • Full UK driving license required.
