General Summary Performs IT functions such as design, analysis, evaluation, testing, debugging and implementation of applications programs supporting company business processes and operations. Analyzes, installs, acquires, modifies and supports operating systems, database or utilities software. Plans, conducts and directs the analysis of business problems to be solved with automated systems. Analyzes, designs, acquires and implements projects for LAN and/or WAN systems. Plans, designs, acquires and implements telecommunications voice/wire systems. At higher job levels, may contribute to the development, testing, evaluation or design of system or infrastructure architecture used throughout the IT solution set. The responsibilities of this role include:
• Working under close supervision.
• Taking responsibility for own work and making decisions with limited impact; impact of decisions is readily apparent; errors made typically only impact timeline (i.e., require additional time to correct).
• Using verbal and written communication skills to convey basic, routine factual information about day-to-day activities to others who are fully knowledgeable in the subject area.
• Completing tasks that require multiple steps that must be performed in a specific order, using directions or manuals that accurately document the steps necessary to perform the tasks.
• Using limited problem solving, generally in the nature of troubleshooting simple processes or technology.
• Exercising some creativity may be required to troubleshoot technical problems or deal with Client circumstances.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
• Collaborates with individuals inside own team and with other teams to complete the team's work.
• Appreciates the contributions made by individuals of varying backgrounds, locations, and cultures.
• Regularly discusses basic issues with team members to maintain open communication.
• Completes routine technical tasks assigned by more senior personnel.
• Works on IT projects as assigned under the direction of upper level IT staff. Seeks out learning opportunities and feedback to increase own knowledge and skill using internal training resources.
• Collects issues with networks, systems, and/or applications, attempts to troubleshoot using established processes, and escalates internally as necessary.
• Adapts to minor changes and setbacks in order to manage pressure and meet deadlines.
• Manages minor distractions, prioritizes tasks, and deals with setbacks in a timely manner with assistance from more senior personnel.
• Executes individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables for small projects.
• Networks with colleagues within project team to gain insight, ideas, and connections.
• Escalates technical issues to an appropriate party (e.g., project lead, colleagues).
• Monitors computer operating system and/or software application availability and performance by ensuring customers can access necessary systems and/or applications under direct supervision.
• Asks more senior personnel for guidance on new and challenging tasks.
• Documents routine operational processes.
• Serves as escalation point from service desk to resolve basic system and/or application issues by interfacing with users and other IT Engineers to resolve issues.
• Communicates with project lead via email and direct conversation to provide project status updates.
