Job Summary:

The IT Business Partner (ITBP) will lead the development and implementation of the Technology Roadmap for the CTS business, will act as the primary interface between Smithers IT and the CTS business, and ensure that technology solutions align with business objectives. This role is responsible for understanding the business' unique operational needs, identifying opportunities for technology improvements, and delivering IT solutions that enhance efficiency, compliance, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Partnership:
  • Accountable for meeting the goals and objectives of the Smithers CTS division.
  • Serve as the primary IT point of contact for the division working closely with business leaders to understand their business strategy and objectives.
  • Collaborate with enterprise IT teams and external vendors to design and implement IT solutions to meet business needs.
  • Partner with Applications Developer to gain a deep understanding of laboratory processes, workflows, and regulatory requirements to inform technology solutions.
  • Technology Solutions:
    • Identify, evaluate, and implement IT solutions to develop and optimize business processes.
    • Work with Smithers IT teams to ensure seamless integration of the Business' IT solutions and needs with corporate ERP solutions including Finance, HR, Sales, and Marketing platforms.
    • Monitor emerging technologies and recommend innovations to improve business efficiency and productivity.
  • Project Management:
    • Lead IT projects for the business, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with defined goals.
    • Coordinate cross-functional teams, including enterprise IT, lab personnel, and external vendors.
    • Manage budgets, timelines, and resource allocation for business-specific IT initiatives.
  • Support and Compliance:
    • Ensure IT systems meet regulatory requirements such as GxP, HIPAA, or ISO standards as applicable.
    • Liaise with Helpdesk resources to provide support for IT-related issues affecting business operations, including troubleshooting and escalation.
    • Oversee the implementation of cybersecurity measures, with a focus on planning, prevention, protection, and privacy.
  • Training and Communication:
    • Facilitate training for staff on new IT tools and systems.
    • Develop and implement communication solutions including client services and technical support.
    • Communicate IT project updates and changes effectively to stakeholders.
    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
    • 5+ years of experience in IT, with at least 2 years in a business partner or similar role.
    • Experience working in a laboratory or scientific environment is highly preferred.
    • Familiarity with LIMS, ERP systems, and other lab-related technologies.
    • Strong knowledge of compliance requirements (e.g., GxP, HIPAA, ISO).
    • Experience implementing artificial intelligence is a plus.
    • Excellent project management and communication skills.
    • Ability to build strong relationships with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
