Job Purpose: The IT Business Analyst I serves as a liaison between the business community and the Information Technology organization, providing technical solutions to meet client needs. Works with business unit(s) to facilitate the alignment of technology solutions with business strategies in the retail and e-commerce business environment.
Job Summary: The IT Business Analyst I works to gain knowledge of the business unit(s) they support, as well as an understanding of the organization's systems and capabilities. Works with smaller segments of the organization and/or less complex projects than Sr. IT personnel. Analyzes client's operations to understand their strengths and weaknesses to determine opportunities to automate processes and functions. Assists in business process redesign and documentation for new technology. Translates high-level business requirements into functional specifications for the Information Technology organization and manages changes to such specifications. Educates the Information Technology organization on the direction of the business unit(s).
Essential Functions: - Assists in gathering requirements using interviews, document analysis, site visits, use cases, task and workflow analysis, surveys, and business analysis.
- Produces clear, detailed functional specifications to be used by the design and development team.
- Evaluates information gathered from multiple sources, reconciles conflicts, decomposes high-level information into details, abstracts up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguishes user requests from business needs.
- Proactively communicates and collaborates with external and internal customers to analyze information needs and deliver functional requirements, business requirements, use cases, and GUI screen and interface designs.
- Collaborates with developers and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs.
- Acquires knowledge of current technology trends in the marketplace.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Job Competencies: Knowledge of: Business analysis methodologies and best practices; strong understanding of IT systems and infrastructure; relevant industry trends and technologies; business process modeling tools; data analysis and visualization techniques. Knowledge of Blue Yonder Merchandise Management System (MMS) desired. Knowledge of Project Management methodologies.
Skill in: Interpersonal communication; presenting complex technical concepts to diverse audiences; analysis and problem-solving; creating functional specifications; collaboration and teamwork; accuracy and attention to detail.

Minimum Qualifications: Education Level: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration or a related field from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of experience in IT business analysis or a related field, preferably in a retail or e-commerce environment. Experience with business process modeling tools; data analysis, and visualization techniques. Knowledge of Blue Yonder Merchandise Management System (MMS) desired. Experience using Project Management methodologies.
