IT Analyst Technical Infrastructure

Role Definition:

Participates in IT infrastructure by using appropriate and trending technologies.

What You Wil DO:
  • Assist with the maintenance of the infrastructure of IT systems that support the business to function efficiently.
  • Ensure solutions that are aligned the current systems are best practices and comply to federal policies and procedures.
  • Manage updates, upgrades, and other maintenance tasks in both hardware and software areas, to make the IT infrastructure more efficient, cost-effective, and secure.
  • Provide PC hardware/software support for devices including corporate deployed IT assets at the Castings Foundry and Seals facility.
  • Provide PC operating system support and security patch updates/deployments.
  • If requested, assist facility with hardware diagnosis including engaging with third party vendors.
  • Basic understanding of network infrastructure (switches, routers, cabling, architecture understanding)
  • Performing basic network and server equipment installation under the direction and support from Caterpillar's infrastructure team
  • Assist with Caterpillar and vendor (factory floor) on application/software related issues.
  • Provide Root Cause Analysis on issues impacting computers on the factory floor and make necessary corrections or make recommendations to the site on changes to improve/resolve impact.
  • Assist with supporting Caterpillar developed applications including initial troubleshooting.
  • Assist with non-standard account administration in Active Directory
  • Assist with other engine castings and seals facility IT projects and initiatives as requested.
What You Have:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Backend infrastructure (server, storage, database, network)
  • Excellent written and oral communications
  • Experience within Enterprise and Technical Architecture.
  • Technical Architecture understanding
  • Office 360 client computing solutions
  • Project Management capabilities
  • Effective teamwork skills
  • Initiative (Self Starter)
  • Network+, or Microsoft Server and Client certifications.
  • Experience in an engine castings foundry environment
Skills Descriptors:

Technical Analysis:
  • Knowledge of the concepts, methodologies, and activities in technical analysis; ability to forecast the direction of technical landscape using technical indicators and take collective actions.
Technical Excellence:
  • Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
Hardware Infrastructure:
  • Knowledge of computer architecture and systems programming; ability to design, build and integrate IT hardware into multi-platforms for the organization.
System Testing:
  • Knowledge of system and software testing; ability to design, plan and execute system testing strategies and tactics to ensure the quality of software at all stages of the system life cycle.
Systems Software Infrastructure:
  • Knowledge of computer architecture and system software interaction; ability to design and build a fundamental architecture of operating systems, database management systems, communications protocols, compilers, and other development tools.
Technical Writing/Documentation:
  • Knowledge of technical writing; ability to write technical documents such as manuals, reports, guidelines or documents on standards, processes, and applications.

  • No relocation assistance is being offered for this role.
  • ON CALL required every weekend.

Summary Pay Range:

$79,800.00 - $119,760.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
