ISP Engineer II
Location: Conway, AR Job Summary: The ISP Engineer II is responsible for the design, implementation, and optimization of Inside Plant (ISP) network infrastructure, ensuring high-quality telecommunications services. This role requires technical expertise in fiber optic and copper-based networks, along with experience in troubleshooting and maintaining network performance. The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support network expansion and upgrades while ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities: - Assist in the design and implementation of ISP infrastructure, including fiber optics, structured cabling, and networking equipment.
- Conduct site surveys, assess existing infrastructure, and propose improvements.
- Install, configure, and maintain ISP hardware and software components.
- Perform network troubleshooting and resolve connectivity issues.
- Ensure network security and reliability through proactive monitoring and maintenance.
- Document network configurations, layouts, and maintenance procedures.
- Work closely with field technicians, project managers, and external vendors to meet project timelines.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, company policies, and safety regulations.
- Provide support for escalated technical issues from Level I engineers and field teams.
- Participate in training programs to stay up to date with the latest industry technologies and best practices.
Required Qualifications: - Associate or Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in ISP network engineering or related role.
- Proficiency in fiber optics, structured cabling, and network equipment (routers, switches, etc.).
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Experience with network management tools and monitoring software.
- Knowledge of industry standards, such as ANSI, TIA/EIA, and NEC.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Willingness to work occasional evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed.
Preferred Qualifications: - Certifications such as CCNA, JNCIA, or equivalent.
- Experience with AutoCAD or Visio for network design.
- Familiarity with ISP billing and provisioning systems.
- Knowledge of VoIP, MPLS, and SD-WAN technologies.
