About the Role: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Data Scientist/Deputy Data Officer to join our team supporting a large IT support contract for a key DoD agency. In this role, you will play a vital part in shaping and executing the data strategy for the program, working closely with the Data Officer and a team of skilled data professionals. Responsibilities: Design, develop, and implement advanced data analytics solutions using statistical modeling, machine learning, and other data science techniques to address complex business challenges. Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and understand data requirements, translating them into actionable insights and recommendations. Develop and maintain data pipelines, ensuring data quality, integrity, and accessibility for analysis and reporting. Conduct exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, and model selection to build predictive and prescriptive models. Develop and deliver compelling data visualizations and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences. Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence, evaluating and recommending their applicability to the program. Contribute to the development and implementation of data governance policies, standards, and best practices. Manage, mentor and guide junior data scientists on the team, fostering a culture of collaboration and knowledge sharing. Qualifications: Active Secret Clearance required. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field. Master's degree preferred. 5+ years of progressive experience in a data science role, preferably within a DoD or government contracting environment. Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, data modeling techniques, and data mining principles. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and experience with data science libraries (e.g., Pandas, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow). Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI. Familiarity with Agile methodologies and MBSE principles is a plus. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
