Summary: The Docketing Paralegal provides support to the IP attorneys in our Trademark docketing database by performing a variety of docketing tasks. The Docketing Paralegal enters and maintains applicable data and all related docket deadlines in our docketing databases. This position shares responsibility of database integrity and applies docketing based on country law and/or firm policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Supports the Intellectual Property Group by docketing, filing and handling various IP prosecution matters, specifically Trademarks and Copyrights.
- Monitors and processes all docket tasks in a centralized mailbox.
- Reviews and manages incoming and outgoing correspondence related to trademark matters.
- Analyzes and calculates application deadlines and response dates.
- Enters applicable data and deadlines in the WebTMs database.
- Dockets USPTO and foreign trademark correspondence accurately and timely.
- Reviews all PTO filings for compliance and completeness and updates docket accordingly.
- De-dockets deadlines and updates the docket with high accuracy.
- Identifies data discrepancies and coordinates with Paralegal Manager to make corrections.
- Prepares docket reports, as requested.
- Performs Audits.
- Assists with Matter opening.
- Keeps current on TMEP, USPTO, WIPO and various foreign offices rules and requirements.
- Assists other members of the Docketing staff, as needed.
- Assumes additional responsibilities as requested by the firm.

Qualifying Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; Paralegal certification preferred.
- 4+ years of experience as a paralegal in a law firm or corporate legal department, with a focus on trademark law.
- Strong knowledge of California corporate laws and USPTO trademark procedures.
- Proficient in trademark docketing systems and other relevant software (WebTMS, etc.).
