Title: Investing Associate, Venture Team (Software Direct Investing)

Start Date: Summer 2025

Location: San Francisco Bay Area (San Francisco and Menlo Park)

Company Overview:

Our client is a highly-specialized, technology-focused venture capital firm with $10B+ AUM. The Ventures team executes the Flagship, expansion-stage VC strategy investing in B2B software companies that they believe can become global category leaders. Currently investing out of its most recent $1.75B Fund VI, the strategy is focused on post-product/market fit opportunities, typically from the Series B to pre-IPO stage.

The firm was originally founded by one of the world's leading enterprise software companies, but has been fully independent since 2011. Known for its expertise in enterprise technology (both in software applications and infrastructure technology), the team also invests more broadly in vertical areas such as FinTech and HealthTech.

The firm and Venture strategy is managed by an experienced, long-tenured team with a well-established track record.

Separately, the firm also manages a fund-of-funds investment vehicle, which invests in other early-stage venture capital funds, and an early-stage fund of its own focused on sports, media and entertainment technology. These funds are part of the Sapphire family, but to be clear, the associate candidates are being hired to work on the firm's flagship, expansion-stage fund strategy (Ventures)

Associate Role:

The firm is looking to add associates to the team in Summer 2025. The Associates at the firm focus on direct investment deal-execution and diligence, participate in meetings with entrepreneurs, oversight of existing investments, and managing deal pipeline. Though sourcing is not the primary role of the Associate, he/she will be encouraged and expected to source for new investment opportunities when not in the midst of deal execution. Doing thematic work and sourcing for new deals via Tech-Social events during one's free time is always strongly encouraged. Ideal candidates will have 2-4+ years of work experience in investment banking, management consulting, or a similar role at a high growth technology company. Strong communication skills, demonstrable interest in tracking emerging technologies, experience working directly with management teams of technology companies, experience working with software business models, and modeling skills with Excel in creating/evaluating companies' financial models is strongly desired.
