SMV Recruiting is looking for a Inventory & Parts Specialist for a client of ours in Syracuse, NY. The ideal candidate will have 3-5+ years experience in inventory and parts management for a manufacturing facility. You will be responsible for managing the maintenance inventory and ordering parts for the facility. This is a full-time position with solid benefits including healthcare, dental, 401K and vacation.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and maintain the visual inventory system, logging and organizing all tools, parts, and supplies for the maintenance team
- Order MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) items, by placing orders through vendors such as Grainger
- Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager and mechanics and figure out what items are needed for the facility
- Support project management by understanding deadlines, tracking inventory needs, and ensuring timely availability of supplies
- Check in with mechanics across shift changes to ensure all staff have the necessary tools and materials
- Hold the appropriate reoccurring inventory that is needed on hand in the shop
- Assist with sending out parts for repair, coordinating with vendors and tracking progress
- Improve existing systems and processes, bringing new ideas and contacts to enhance inventory management efficiency
Requirements:
- 3-5+ years of experience in inventory management, purchasing, or a buyer role, preferably in a manufacturing, construction supply, or warehousing environment
- Proven experience managing inventory in a hands-on manufacturing environment
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with maintenance staff and supervisors
- Familiarity with ordering processes (e.g., logging into Grainger) and basic vendor negotiation skills
