Job Description
An employer is looking for an offshore IDMS DBA to sit in India.
Deep and intimate knowledge of IDMS Database logical and physical structures such as areas, files, segments, DMCLs, DB Name tables, and the relationships between them.
Expert knowledge of Schema, Subschema, and physical database DDL compilers both in batch and online.
Expert knowledge of physical database file and in-memory data structures related to IDMS databases.
Expert knowledge of the Integrated Data Dictionary (IDD), it's use to manage logical and physical IDMS database objects and the DDDL online and batch compilers.
Solid understanding of IDMS program development, the compilation process and use of the IDMS runtime environment under both local mode and central version.
Solid understanding of database access techniques and navigation with an emphasis on locking, concurrency and impacts to large multi-system/multi-threading/multi-tasking environments in a 24x7x365 setting.
Expert knowledge of IDMS tools, utilities and reporting facilities such as but not limited to: page expand, reorg, maintain index, restructure, IDMSDBAN, IDMSLOOK, IDMSRPTS, PRINT SPACE, PRINT PAGE, etc.
Expert knowledge of problem identification and mitigation techniques across a variety of scenarios and situations involving IDMS.
In depth knowledge of COBOL language and syntax, program structure, data storage mechanisms, inter/intra program calling techniques and typical coding patterns used in large complex systems.
Knowledge and use of DB-Synchro would be helpful.
Knowledge of Assembler programming language, coding constructs, storage mechanisms, macros (system and in particular IDMS) and DB Procs would be helpful.
Knowledge and experience with ADS/O, ADSA and mapping facility would be helpful.
Knowledge of CULPRIT and in particular it's use to extract IDD content would be helpful.
Experience with traversing the Broadcom website to review current documentation, research issues and communicate with the vendor in resolving issues and problems that arise.

Skills and Requirements
6+ years of IDMS Database Administration experience
Expert knowledge of Schema, Subschema, and physical database DDL (data definition language) compliers both in batch and online
Experience with the assembler programming language DML (database manipulation language)
Expert knowledge of the Integrated Data Dictionary (IDD), it's use to manage logical and physical IDMS database objects and the DDDL (data dictionary definition language) online and batch compilers COBOL programming and syntax
