Position Summary: Hiring a Licensed Intervention Specialist for Perspectives Academy (PA) - PA is dedicated to supporting students who need mental health care and alternative learning options. Mental health is at the heart of our approach, with students receiving 60-minute therapy sessions each week during the school day. Our program follows Ohio's Learning Standards (academic and social-emotional learning) and offers students the chance to earn credits through Project-Based Learning, Integrated Coursework, and Social Skills class. Research-based interventions are utilized at the individual, small group, and program-wide levels to help attendees achieve their highest level both therapeutically and academically.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:IEP Development and Implementation
- Write, revise, and implement IEPs that are compliant with IDEA and tailored to meet individual student needs.
- Conduct and document progress monitoring and data collection to evaluate IEP goals.
- Use evidence-based instructional strategies and interventions aligned with student needs.
Evaluation Team Reports (ETRs)
- Participate in the evaluation and reevaluation process.
- Interpret and incorporate evaluation data into educational planning.
Data Collection and Goal Probing
- Collect and analyze student performance data regularly.
- Create curriculum-based materials to target IEP goals and objectives.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of assessments and data.
Progress Reporting
- Prepare and submit quarterly progress reports on IEP goals to parents/guardians.
- Communicate data-based results and educational implications clearly.
Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with team members including related service providers (e.g., speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists) and paraprofessionals.
- Communicate professionally with families, service providers, and the school district.
Compliance and Documentation
- Ensure timely completion of all mandated reports and forms.
- Stay informed of changes in special education laws and best practices.
Professional Development and Growth
- Attend required training sessions and staff meetings.
- Engage in reflective practices to improve instructional effectiveness and student outcomes.
Qualifications:- Valid state license or certification as an Intervention Specialist (e.g., Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Intensive, depending on caseload).
- Bachelor's degree (minimum) in Special Education or related field.
- Strong knowledge of IDEA, IEP/ETR processes, and differentiated instructional strategies.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with data-driven instruction and progress monitoring tools.
