Prism Health is excited to announce that we are hiring our next Medical Director. The Medical Director will provide leadership of our two successful and highly regarded clinics in Portland, Oregon. We are neighborhood clinics that provide integrated primary care and behavioral health services to patients of all backgrounds, however our providers specialize in HIV care, substance abuse disorder treatment and gender affirming care. We are leaders in the Pacific Northwest in providing this care.

This is a Full time role, working .6 FTE to provide direct patient care and .4 FTE to provide clinic leadership. You will share clinic leadership with Prism's capable Practice Administrator. Clinic hours and work hours are Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm.

This role is a member of Cascade AIDS Project's leadership team and reports to Carrie Samuels, Deputy Chief Programs & Strategy Officer.

Starting pay is $225,000 to $250,000/year.

Who You Are

  • You have current licensure as a MD or DO. Licensure in Oregon at the time of application is not required to be considered.
  • You have board certification in family medicine, internal medicine or a related specialty.
  • You have at least five years of clinical experience, ideally in primary care.
  • You have significant experience in HIV care, substance use disorder treatment, and gender affirming care.
  • Ideally, you have led a team of providers and you enjoy that aspect of your work. You don't just want to be a good clinician, you want to be a good leader. You know that equity and inclusion are essential aspects of teamwork.
  • You are self aware and a great listener. You are an expert at centering others, and not just in the treatment room. Treating patients and coworkers with dignity is your hallmark.
  • You practice medicine with the principles of trauma informed care.
  • Ideally, you have experience providing care for underserved communities.
  • Ideally, you have worked in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) or FQHC Look-Alike clinic so you have familiarity with these requirements.
  • If you speak another language, it's a plus.

What You'll Do

  • Provide full scope primary care to patients ages 15 and up. Providing direct patient care will comprise .6 FTE of your role.
  • Provide leadership to both of Prism's clinics, developing guidelines and policies to ensure best practice clinic standards. Work in close partnership with the Practice Administrator to ensure your clinics run efficiently and effectively. Providing clinic leadership will comprise .4 FTE of your role.
  • Serve as a member of the Cascade AIDS Project (CAP) Executive Leadership Team, representing Prism at leadership meetings, Board of Directors meetings, organizational events and community events.
  • Prism Health's clinical team is 8 providers and support staff. The Medical Director will provide direct supervision to the Primary Care Provider (PCP) Team Leads at both clinics, and the Panel Coordinator.
  • Hire and supervise a Clinical Quality Specialist. Serve as a member of the clinic quality improvement team.
  • Ensure clinical expertise across the Prism Health staff, providing day to day coaching as well as professional development programs. Model exemplary clinical practice. Be available for consultation.
  • Collaborate closely with the Practice Administrator and Behavioral Health Clinical Supervisor to refine internal workflows between primary care and behavioral health.
  • Serve as an expert in HIV care and gender affirming care across the Portland/Vancouver area. Connect with practitioners at other medical and research institutions to advance the practice of HIV and gender affirming care in the region.
