Position Overview:
The City Physician provides comprehensive medical services for current and prospective City of Delano employees. This contracted position involves conducting various medical examinations, administering drug screenings, performing fitness-for-duty evaluations, completing DMV medical certifications, treating job-related injuries, providing COVID-19 testing, and administering vaccines. The City Physician also serves as a medical/legal witness and resource for City management.

- Ability to conduct examinations within a reasonable time and provide medical reports within three days of examination.

Qualifications:
- Education: Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
- Certification: Must be board certified
- Licensure: Valid medical license to practice in the state of California.
- Experience: Must have experience in relevant field.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in conducting medical examinations and interpreting results.
- Soft Skills: Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct pre-employment physical examinations for various employee groups.
- Perform functional capacity evaluations/assessments (including ADA assessments).
- Complete Department of Motor Vehicle physicals and medical certifications
- Conduct fitness-for-duty evaluations and disability retirement evaluations.
- Administer and interpret drug screening tests (including DOT-regulated tests).
- Treat job-related injuries and provide COVID-19 testing and vaccines.
- Serve as a medical/legal witness and resource for City management.
