My client is seeking an experienced Intermodal Dispatcher in Greer, South Carolina. This role requires 3-5 years of dispatching experience with a strong background in intermodal operations. The ideal candidate is motivated, career-driven, and tech-savvy, with the ability to quickly adapt to new systems. Applicants must currently work in the industry and be located in South Carolina (or within 20 miles).


Position Overview:

The dispatcher will be responsible for coordinating daily and weekly driver schedules, ensuring efficient freight coverage while maintaining cost-effectiveness. This role involves communicating appointment schedules, coordinating across multiple locations, and supporting drivers with equipment issues, rail billing, and other operational needs.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Use independent judgment and discretion to manage customer requests, schedule appointments, and assign loads to drivers for road, local, and city runs while maintaining A-to-B dispatching.
  • Process and complete dispatch records in SWS, ensuring accuracy from daily driver paperwork on completed runs.
  • Address driver service failures, with the authority to issue verbal or written corrective actions, and escalate issues to the Manager or Cargo Specialist as needed.
  • Apply and communicate additional charges to customer service when applicable.
  • Track and maintain yard reports, MDR, CNI, and Divisional Pool for operational efficiency.
  • Request rail billing and ensure all necessary documentation is completed.
  • Process ATP's and Non-Productive Pay, while reviewing preliminary payroll for accuracy.
  • Monitor and oversee driver HOS (Hours of Service) and ELD (Electronic Logging Device) updates.
  • Manage roadside repairs, ensuring minimal downtime for drivers.
  • Oversee and coordinate Rail/Port pin management, reservations, and Last Free Day (LFD) tracking.
  • Operate with a sense of urgency, effectively handling high-pressure, fast-paced environments while ensuring smooth dispatch operations.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of intermodal dispatching experience (preferred).
  • Strong data entry, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in dispatch systems and logistics software.
  • Ability to multi-task and problem-solve effectively.

Reporting & Coordination:

  • Reports to: Operations Manager
  • Coordinates with: Drivers, Owner-Operators
