We are seeking an Intermediate Linux System Administrator to support the Defense Information Security Agency (DISA). This is an onsite position located in Columbus, OH, providing a unique opportunity to enhance your skills in a collaborative environment.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Perform hands-on touch labor in a dynamic data center environment.
  • Effectively manage, configure, and optimize Linux servers, including Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL, and more.
  • Assess and validate current security posture, implementing configuration changes to enhance enterprise security as directed.
  • Utilize Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) tools and Security Technical Information Guides (STIGs) to maintain compliance with security standards.
  • Conduct routine maintenance, updates, and patch management for Linux systems.
  • Troubleshoot server-related issues promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Monitor system performance to ensure optimal availability and uptime.
  • Implement industry best practices for security, including firewall configurations and access controls.
  • Automate tasks using scripting and configuration management tools like Ansible and Puppet.
  • Oversee storage solutions, backup strategies, and disaster recovery plans.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to support diverse applications and services.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations and processes.
  • Provide continuity of operations support as needed.
  • Conduct technical analyses and produce thorough documentation for root cause analysis and process improvement initiatives.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with 4+ years of relevant experience or Master's degree with 2+ years of experience. Equivalent experience may substitute for a degree.
  • Active Secret clearance and ability to pass a drug test required.
  • Must hold a DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+).
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience in supporting and maintaining Linux-based infrastructure in a production environment.
  • Solid understanding of server architecture and datacenter operations, including system provisioning and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with core network services (e.g., DNS, DHCP, NTP) in Linux contexts.
  • Experience with security compliance frameworks and tools like SCAP and STIGs.
  • Foundational knowledge of cryptographic principles including encryption methods and digital signatures.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively across teams.
  • Highly detail-oriented, dependable, and proactive with strong organizational skills.
  • Record of strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities in complex Linux environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least 1 year of experience with scripting and automation tools.
  • Experience with certificate-enabled applications, such as SSL/TLS and secured file systems.
  • Familiarity with AWS cloud services.
  • Skills in installing and configuring software and security updates to maintain system security.
  • Able to identify and improve inefficiencies within Windows and Citrix infrastructures as needed.

Pay Range: $72,150.00 - $130,425.00
