The Multi-domain Solutions Division (MDS) within the Leidos National Security Sector is on the lookout for a skilled Intermediate Computer Operations Specialist to be an integral part of a new cutting-edge cybersecurity program. You will play a vital role in overseeing development, integration, delivery, and maintenance of IT managed security services, primarily focused on monitoring cybersecurity threats and ensuring robust security posture across our enterprise. This position is contingent upon future contract award.
Key Responsibilities: - Monitor, maintain, and secure critical IT systems and infrastructure within a classified environment.
- Ensure optimal system operation by executing batch processes, responding to security alerts, and adhering to stringent government regulations.
- Leverage your strong IT operations background and cybersecurity principles to excel in a high-pressure, mission-critical setting.
- Observe system consoles and network activity for unusual patterns or potential security risks.
- Respond to basic system alerts, performance issues, and error notifications.
- Escalate critical system anomalies to senior operators or system administrators as needed.
- Execute and verify the completion of scheduled batch jobs while handling any errors or inconsistencies efficiently.
- Restart failed processes by following standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Assist with user account management, including creation, password resets, and access to classified systems.
- Provide basic user support and escalate more complex technical issues when necessary.
- Enforce security protocols, including Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and password policies.
- Actively participate in the initiation and monitoring of backup processes for classified data.
- Ensure backup success and report discrepancies to senior operators when identified.
- Conduct routine data integrity checks and assist with restoration tests.
- Support the implementation of system updates, patches, and security configurations.
- Perform basic system health checks and ensure compliance with security standards.
- Help with hardware and software replacements under supervision.
- Maintain accurate records of system activity, job logs, errors, and corrective measures.
- Update system documentation to capture changes in processes or procedures.
- Assist in generating reports related to system performance and incident responses.
- Help identify and document security incidents or potential threats.
- Follow established protocols for escalating incidents to senior cybersecurity personnel.
- Participate in incident response exercises to enhance readiness and skill sets.
Qualifications: - Active Top Secret/SCI (TS/SCI) with Polygraph security clearance required. Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Bachelor's degree and 4 to 8 years of relevant experience or Master's degree with 2 to 6 years of experience. Experience may be considered in place of a degree.
- Basic knowledge of Windows, Linux, or UNIX operating systems.
- Proficient in running system commands, managing processes, and troubleshooting errors.
- Understanding of batch job scheduling and monitoring practices.
- Experience with job control languages (JCL), if applicable.
- Familiarity with backup protocols and data recovery techniques.
- Ability to verify backup integrity and manage storage media.
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware, peripherals, and troubleshooting components.
- Ability to oversee system activity and accurately identify errors or inconsistencies.
- Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting system and application issues effectively.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills to document procedures and escalate issues when necessary.
- Ability to collaborate as part of an IT team and adhere to established protocols.
- 1 to 2 years of experience in computer operations, IT support, or a related field preferred.
- Experience working with system monitoring tools and batch processing frameworks.
Preferred Qualifications: - Familiarity with data center operations and environment monitoring.
- Knowledge of ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) processes.
- Experience with enterprise-level applications and database management.
