Job Purpose: The Interim Administrator is accountable for managing the daily functions of the Veterans Home, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local regulations that govern long-term care facilities. Under the guidance of the Area Vice President, the Administrator will spearhead initiatives to deliver exceptional care for residents while ensuring operational efficiency and financial stewardship. Additionally, the Administrator will serve as a Preceptor for this location.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of state and federal laws that regulate nursing facilities.
  2. Understand licensing and payment mechanisms, business practices, nursing protocols, psychological care, therapeutic support, and safety measures relevant to nursing operations.
  3. Formulate operational strategies to meet facility goals within established budgets and timelines.
  4. Provide practical training in nursing facility operations and engage with community resources and agencies effectively.
  5. Apply professional standards to ensure high-quality care is consistently provided.
  6. Demonstrate expertise in financial management, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  7. Develop administrative policies that align with the center's mission and comply with regulations.
  8. Respect and promote the rights and dignity of all residents, serving as a role model for staff.
  9. Understand and follow both written and verbal instructions and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  10. Uphold the center's mission in all tasks and maintain confidentiality of patient and facility information.
  11. Exhibit honesty and integrity in all responsibilities.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Participate in center/agency surveys and follow required protocols.
  • Stay informed about licensing requirements for personnel.
  • Engage in continuing education to stay current in the field.
  • Honor patients' rights and comply with corporate compliance programs.
  • Follow established safety regulations meticulously.
  • Ensure daily updates are communicated prior to and after each shift.
  • Respond to the needs of the center and be available on-call as necessary.
  • Understand emergency procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Manage human resources effectively and uphold equitable treatment across personnel matters.
  • Provide strong leadership to various department heads and foster collaboration among staff.
Minimum Education Required: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Health Administration, or a related field.

Minimum Experience Required: A minimum of two years in a supervisory role within a hospital or long-term care setting, with a strong grasp of operational standards and regulations.

Minimum Licensure/Certification Required: A current and unrestricted Administrator license in the state of practice.

Additional Qualifications: Preferred qualifications include a Master's degree in a related field, and being a Licensed Preceptor or LNHA with at least two years of practice in Maryland.
