Franklin & Marshall College is recruiting for a full-time, temporary Interim Associate Vice President of Finance & Controller.

Job Details:

•   Location: F&M Campus - Lancaster, PA. Potential option for a hybrid work schedule.

•   Classification: Full-time, Exempt.

•   Schedule: 40 hours, Monday - Friday. Anticipated End Date of December 12, 2025.

•   Reports to: Vice President of Finance & Administration

Job Description:

Reporting to the Vice President of Finance & Administration, the Interim AVP of Finance & Controller is responsible for key financial functions for the College. This position is responsible for overseeing monthly and year-end close processes, facilitating the annual audit, and managing the purchasing, accounts payable, student accounts, and grant accounting offices. Working closely with the VPFA and external advisors, this position also assists with treasury management, cash flow monitoring, and investment coordination.

Essential Functions:

•  Oversee the monthly and year-end closing processes and prepare the College's financial statements for Management and other stakeholders in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.

•  Facilitate the audit of the College's consolidated annual financial statements and support the VPFA with reporting the results to the Audit Committee of the Board of Trustees.

•  Oversee the College's financial operations including purchasing and accounts payable (including purchasing card program oversight), student accounts and grant accounting to ensure prompt payment of approved expenses and collection of College receivables. Monitor and facilitate the College's compliance with applicable withholding and tax reporting.

•  Assist with the College's treasury management functions including monitoring weekly cash needs, working with the VPFA on short-term investment strategies, and interfacing with the College's outsourced endowment investment advisors.

•  Review the operations of the financial functions under this position's responsibilities and make recommendations to the VPFA for changes to serve the campus better and to create efficiencies.

•  All other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

•  Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field.

•  7+ years of experience in higher education finance roles.

•  Understanding and involvement in the financial statement audit of a higher education institution.

•  Prior experience supervising professional staff.

•  Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication skills.

•  Proficiency in Google Suite Products (Docs, Gmail, Sheets, Slides, Drive)

•  Evidence of a commitment to community and belonging.

•  Successful interview.

•  Successful completion of background checks.
