Seeking Intellectual Property Associate Attorney with a background in computer science or electrical engineering to join our Intellectual Property team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic team on cutting-edge intellectual property matters.
- 2 to 5 years of patent prosecution experience
- Active Pennsylvania Bar License (Required to practice in Pittsburgh, PA)
- Law firm experience
- Technical background (BS/MS preferred) in computer circuits, multiprocessor design, and/or telecommunications
- USPTO registration (or Patent Bar eligibility)
- Strong research, writing, and analytical skills
- Familiarity with intellectual property law and patent litigation procedures
- Litigation experience is a plus but not required
- Interview inventors and prepare patent applications
- Draft and prosecute U.S. and foreign patent applications, including ex parte appeals
- Conduct validity, infringement, and freedom-to-operate studies, including preparing associated legal opinion letters
- Provide legal counsel on intellectual property matters, with a primary focus on patent law, and support licensing, trademark, and copyright matters
- Collaborate with partners, associates, and support staff to ensure effective case management
- Stay informed on developments in intellectual property law and contribute to the firm's knowledge base
